Toronto took two of three games from Cincinnati this past weekend to start this extended road trip. The Blue Jays continue to hang tough in the very competitive AL East with an overall record of 36-36; 17-18 at home and 19-18 on the road. Sunday’s 2-1 loss as a 124 road underdog dropped them to 7.5 games behind Boston in the division.

This team is ranked third in the AL in scoring with an average of 4.7 runs per game, but could only manage eight total runs in its three games against the Reds. The Blue Jays have only scored five or more runs once in their last 10 games. Right hander Zach Stewart will be making his second Major League start after an impressive debut last Thursday against Baltimore. He gave up two earned runs on seven hits in seven innings of work, but did not get the decision. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Atlanta is 2-5 in its last seven games, but is coming off a 4-2 win over Texas on Sunday as a 101 home underdog. Heading into this series, the Braves are 40-33 overall and five games in back of Philadelphia in the NL East. They are 21-16 on the road and 19-17 at home.

Chipper Jones was listed as questionable for Monday’s game, but hopes to be back in the lineup for this one after straining a muscle in his leg last Thursday night. Atlanta needs all the offensive help it can get, given that it is ranked 11th in the NL in runs scored with 283.

Left hander Mike Minor is expected to be on the mound for the Braves in this one. He is 0-2 this season with an ERA of 5.47. Minor has yet to last more than six innings in any of his previous five starts and gave up seven hits and five earned runs in 4.1 innings his last time out.

These two teams have not faced one another since the Braves swept a three-game series on the road in 2009. This time, stick with Toronto to take one on the road as the Blue Jays get to Minor early and often to grab the win.
