Thursday MLB Betting Parlay – Nationals vs. Phillies, Rays vs. White Sox

MLB Betting Previews- Thursday, Sept. 27 Parlay

The MLB regular season comes to an end next Wednesday, so this is our last chance to bring home a winner on a Thursday two-team parlay for this year.

After digging deep into the pertinent stats and betting trends for all the probable pitching matchups on Thursday’s slate, we uncovered a golden opportunity for the following two-team parlay.

Game 1: Washington Nationals vs. Philadelphia Phillies
Money Line: Washington +120 Philadelphia -130
Total Line: 7.5

Washington will close-out this series with Geo Gonzalez on the mound as its starter. The left-hander has already won 20 games this season against just eight losses while compiling a rock-solid 2.84 ERA. He is 2-1 against the Phillies with an ERA of just 1.89.

Philadelphia will go with Tyler Cloyd as its starter for Thursday night. He just completed his third quality start in five previous outing since getting called up from Triple-A. The right-hander held the Mets to just one run on three hits in eight innings of work. In his five starts he is 2-1 with a 3.86 ERA.

The Nationals lost the first game of this series 6-3 on Tuesday night as 136 road underdogs. They are now 1-7 in the last eight meetings this season and 2-5 in their last seven games in Philadelphia. It is hard to go against Washington with Gonzalez on the mound, but the Phillies seem determined to go down swinging and pound-out another win at home in this series finale. Game 2: Tampa Bay Rays vs. Chicago White Sox
Money Line: Tampa Bay +100 Chicago -110
Total Line: 8

The Rays are running out of games to make it into the playoffs so they will put the ball into James Shields’ hands to try and get a win. The right-hander is 15-9 this season with an ERA of 2.65. He threw seven scoreless innings against Toronto his last time out and has now given-up a total of eight earned runs in his last five starts. Shields is 3-3 against the White Sox with a 4.95 ERA.

Chicago is still trying to pin-down the AL Central so it will counter with Jake Peavy on Thursday night. This right-hander is 11-12 overall with a 3.40 ERA. He got tagged for five earned runs on eight hits his last time out against Los Angeles and now has just two wins in his last nine starts. Peavy is 2-1 against the Rays but sporting a hefty 6.48 ERA.

Tampa Bay is 4-0 in Shields last four starts in Game 1 of a new series and 8-2 in his last 10 starts overall. While both teams are clearly in desperate need of a win to keep their postseason dreams alive, the edge in Thursday’s game clearly goes to Tampa Bay with Shields on the mound. Stick with the Rays to get the win on the road to lock-up the back-end of our final Thursday parlay of the year.
