2012 Diamondbacks vs Rangers Betting Preview

The Arizona Diamondbacks surprised a lot of people by winning the National League West last year, but they have a lot of ground to make up if they are going to get back to the top of the NL West this season.

Texas is just 5-8 in their last 13 games, but the Rangers are as talented as any team in the majors.

This is the final game of a three-game set between these teams.

Arizona has had quite a few injuries to deal with so far in 2012. Stephen Drew still isn’t back from a major injury suffered in 2011. Chris Young missed a significant amount of time earlier this year as well, and that really hurt the offense.

Justin Upton was an MVP candidate last year, but his numbers have slid back substantially this season. Miguel Montero, Justin Upton, and Ryan Roberts are all hitting .250 or worse in 2012.

Daniel Hudson is 2-1 on the year, but he has a 6.06 ERA. Hudson hasn’t been able to stay healthy this year. [dfads params=’groups=10&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

There isn’t a team in all of baseball with a lineup as deep as the Texas Rangers. Texas ranks best in the majors in runs scored per game, team batting average, and OPS.

Josh Hamilton is hitting .335 with 22 homers and 62 RBI’s. His amazing season has led the way for this offense. Adrian Beltre has cut down on his strikeouts, and he is hitting .300 with 10 homers.

Nelson Cruz is battling some nagging injuries. He is listed as questionable for this game. The Rangers pitching staff has done a very good job so far this season.

Texas ranks eighth in the majors in team ERA despite pitching in a very hitter-friendly ballpark. Scott Feldman is 0-5 with a 6.39 ERA so far this year, so he has been the weak spot in the rotation.

Both of these pitchers have been giving up the runs in bunches this season. The line is set high, but I think it still goes over the posted total.
