2009 MLB World Series Futures Odds

At BetUS.com, we know it’s never too early to get the jump on a wagering season long before it ever takes place! Which is exactly why the ingenious oddsmakers at the industry-leading, online Sportsbook wagering service offers sports betting enthusiasts spanning the globe, the most creative and bettor-friendly odds anywhere, regardless of the particular sport.

While BetUS MLB betting fanatics everywhere assuredly know the Philadelphia Phillies just won the second World Series in franchise history, beating the formidable and feisty Tampa Bay Rays in five games, I am back to offer MLB gamblers an early look at the 2009 MLB World Series Futures Odds.

Insightful – and lucky – MLB bettors that wagered on the Rays or Phillies winning their respective league championships – and the Phillies to win it all – long before the 2008 season ever began, cashed in big-time and BetUS MLB Sportsbook wagering members can try their hand at doing the same for the 2009 World Series with the following MLB Futures Odds.

Here is a look at the MLB Futures Odds each team is offering, separated into four different categories that I have selected for each ballclub, followed by a brief synopsis on the teams in each category.

Legitimate Contenders

Boston Red Sox +500
New York Yankees +600
Chicago Cubs +700
Los Angeles Angels +800
Tampa Bay Rays +900
Philadelphia Phillies +1200

Analysis: I fully believe the 2009 World Series winner is going to come from this group! It’s kinda’ hard making a concrete pick at this point, particularly with several big-name free agents sure to make impacts wherever they sign, but if someone put a gun to my head right now and forced me to make a pick, I’d go with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Say what you want about the Rays, but the team is loaded with gifted young pitchers who comprise arguably the best starting staff in all of baseball!

On the Fringe

Arizona Diamondbacks +1400
Los Angeles Dodgers +1400
New York Mets +1400
Cleveland Indians +1600
Toronto Blue Jays +2500
Chicago White Sox +2500
Minnesota Twins +2500
St. Louis Cardinals +2500

Analysis: Like I said, nothing is etched in stone just yet. One of these teams could land a big-time free agent that could put them over the top. This group of teams also features three of the very best managers in the game – ever –in Joe Torre, Tony LaRussa and Cito Gaston!

Long shots

Detroit Tigers +1800
Florida Marlins +3000
Atlanta Braves +3000

Analysis: A couple of key additions could vault any of these three teams into serious World Series contention – and in the case of the young Marlins, they could be the National League’s version of the Rays soon enough.

Not Gonna’ Happen

Colorado Rockies +3500
Milwaukee Brewers +4000
Cincinnati Reds +5000
Oakland Athletics +5000
Texas Rangers +5000
San Francisco Giants +5000
Houston Astros +6000
San Diego Padres +6000
Seattle Mariners +6000
Washington Nationals +6000
Pittsburgh Pirates +6000
Baltimore Orioles +10000
Kansas City Royals +10000

Analysis: You know, the more I think about it, I think the Royals and Nationals will meet in the 2009 World Series – not!

The title of this grouping says it all!

No matter whom any of these teams add, I believe they are just too far away from contending in 2009.
