Week 10 NFL Handicapping Tips

Three key divisional matchups highlight the Week 10 NFL betting schedule, as the Giants take on the Eagles in the NFC East, the Packers and Vikings face off in the NFC North, and the Bills and Patriots clash in the AFC East.

The Giants are trying to run away with the NFC East after improving to 7-1 last week. New York rolled over Dallas 35-14 as an 8.5-point favorite on the NFL odds behind a three-TD performance from Eli Manning. Brandon Jacobs rushed for 117 yards and a score on 17 carries, while the Giants defense stifled the Cowboys with four sacks and three interceptions while limiting them to only 183 yards.

The Eagles reeled off their third win in a row last week after easily getting past Seattle 26-7 as a 7-point favorite. Donovan McNabb passed for 349 yards with a pair of touchdowns, and Brent Celek made the most of his start at tight end in place of the injured L.J. Smith with six receptions for 131 yards. Last season the Giants were 2-0 straight-up and against-the-spread against Philadelphia, but New York is a 3-point road underdog in Sunday’s game.

First place in the NFC North currently belongs to Chicago, but with the Bears in tough against undefeated Tennessee this week the Vikings or Packers have a chance to grab a share of the division lead with a win. Green Bay dropped to 4-4 last week after a 19-17 overtime loss to the Titans as a 3-point underdog. Aaron Rodgers continued to play through a sprained shoulder and passed for 314 yards with a TD and an interception. Minnesota clawed their way up to 4-4 last week with a 28-21 win over Houston. Gus Frerotte had three TD passes, and Adrian Peterson rushed for 139 yards on 25 carries.

The Packers and Vikings met in the season opener in Week 1 when Green Bay edged Minnesota 24-19 as a 2.5-point favorite. In the rematch the Vikings are a 2.5-point home favorite.

Buffalo and New England head into Week 10 tied for first place with the Jets in the AFC East after Week 9 losses. The Bills’ offense struggled to get going against the Jets last week in a 26-17 loss as a 5-point favorite. Trent Edwards turned the ball over three times and Marshawn Lynch played only in the first quarter due to illness.

The Patriots lost to the Colts 18-15 as a 7-point underdog last time out, as the New England offense struggled again. Matt Cassel went without a touchdown while passing for 204 yards with an interception. Cassel should have had at least one scoring pass, though, as Jabar Gaffney dropped what was easily a sure touchdown strike in the end zone.

The Patriots won both games against the Bills last season, and they are currently riding a nine-game winning streak against Buffalo. New England is a 3.5-point favorite this weekend.
