NFL Week 6 Totals Analysis

With the Denver-San Diego game going over on Monday night there was a perfect balance in the totals betting with seven games staying under and seven games going over. The biggest shocker had to be Philadelphia@ Oakland which had a total of 40.5 and there only 22 combined points as the Eagles were held to three field goals. The next had to be the Saints pinning 48 points on the Giants’ #1 defense in a game where the total was 48.

Sunday October 18th

(Byes: Dallas, Indianapolis, Miami, San Francisco)

Houston Texans at Cincinnati Bengals
Over/Under 46.5 || Result 45 UNDER

Texan QB Matt Schaub had another big day throwing for almost 400 yards and 4 TDs as there was no late game come back this week for the Bengals.

Detroit Lions at Green Bay Packers
Over/Under 47.5 || Result 26 UNDER

Detroit had to go with third string QB Drew Stanton for most of the second half after Daunte Culpepper went out with a hamstring injury.

St. Louis Rams at Jacksonville Jaguars
Over/Under 42 || Result 43 OVER

The Ram’s offense finally shows some life but they couldn’t hold a lead as an overtime field goal gives Jacksonville the win and barely takes this game over the total.

Baltimore Ravens at Minnesota Vikings
Over/Under 44 || Result 64 OVER

The Vikings come out on top in a wild one that saw the Ravens mount a furious comeback in the fourth quarter only to lose the game on a missed 44 yard field goal attempt with time running out.

New York Giants at New Orleans Saints
Over/Under 47.5 || Result 75 OVER

The Saints took this game over on their own as they torched the Giants defense for 48 points.

Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers
Over/Under 38 || Result 41 OVER

Ben Roethlisberger to Hines Ward was just too much for the Browns secondary to handle as the pair hooked up for 159 yards and 1 TD.

Carolina Panthers at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Over/Under 40.5 || Result 49 OVER

The Panthers had almost 300 yards on the ground led by RB DeAngelo Williams who scored the game winning touchdown with 29 seconds left in the game.

Kansas City Chiefs at Washington Redskins
Over/Under 38 || Result 20 UNDER

The Chiefs get their first win of the year against the embattled Redskins who have now lost three games to teams that were winless at the time.

Philadelphia Eagles at Oakland Raiders
Over/Under 40.5 || Result 22 UNDER

The Philly offense that was averaging close to 30 points a game takes the week off as the Raiders hold them to three field goals on the day.

Arizona Cardinals at Seattle Seahawks
Over/Under 47.5 || Result 30 UNDER

While Kurt Warner had a decent day throwing for 276 yards and 2 TD, it was the Arizona defense that was the star of the day completely shutting the Seahawks down.

Tennessee Titans at New England Patriots
Over/Under 43.5 || Result 59 OVER

Tom Brady throws for six TDs as the Patriots make a statement at home in the snow beating the Titans 59-0.

Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
Over/Under 38 || Result 29 UNDER

Rookie QB Mark Sanchez continues to struggle as his five interceptions allow Buffalo to hang in there and win the game in overtime.

Chicago Bears at Atlanta Falcons
Over/Under 45.5 || Result 34 UNDER

Matt Ryan wins the battle of the young guns over Jay Cutler as his 2 TD passes lead the Falcons to the win.

Monday, Oct. 19

Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
Over/Under 44 || Result 57 OVER

It was the Broncos special teams that got it done this week as Eddie Royal returned a kickoff and a punt for touchdowns as Denver moves to 6-0 on the year.

For teams like the Eagles, Giants, Seahawks and Chargers it is time to regroup, while the Saints, Vikings, Broncos and Colts continue to position themselves for the postseason.

44-46 YTD
