NFL Week 10 Totals Analysis

After two straight weeks of the under bet out pacing the over, the points were once again adding up fast this past week. Nine games went over the total, while six games stayed under. In no big surprise the Patriots- Colts game led the way with 69 total points, while Tennessee took their game over on their own putting 41 points on board against the Bills. Two of the more shocking under games were Green Bay holding the Cowboys to seven points and Cincinnati holding the Steelers to just 12 points.

Here is a brief recap of all the games.

Thursday, Nov. 12

(Byes: Houston, N.Y Giants)

Chicago Bears at San Francisco 49ers
Over/Under 43.5 Result 16 UNDER

Bear’s QB Jay Cutler threw five interceptions as Chicago’s offense only managed two field goals in a 10-6 loss that drops them to 4-5 on the year.

Sunday, Nov. 15

Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers
Over/Under 44.5 Result 47 OVER

Jonathon Stewart’s 45 yard burst for a touchdown with a little over two minutes to play not only seals the win for the Panthers, it takes this game over the total by 2 ½ points.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Miami Dolphins
Over/Under 44.5 Result 48 OVER

One of the big stars in this game was Miami RB Ricky Williams who ran for 102 yards on 20 carries. His 27 yard run late in the 4th quarter set up the winning 25 yard field with 10 seconds left to play.

Detroit Lions at Minnesota Vikings
Over/Under 47.5 Result 37 UNDER

A lack luster performance by the Vikings was more than enough to grind out a 27-10 win over the Lions. Minnesota has now won 15 out of the last 16 games between these two teams.

Jacksonville Jaguars at New York Jets
Over/Under 40 Result 46 OVER

The Jaguars were able to sustain a five minute drive late in the 4th quarter setting up a chip shot field goal as time expired. This drive featured RB Maurice Jones-Drew kneeling down at the one yard line instead of scoring a touchdown to help run out the clock.

Cincinnati Bengals at Pittsburgh Steelers
Over/Under 42 Result 30 UNDER

The Bengals defense was the difference in this game holding the Steelers to 12 points, their lowest total in their last 22 games. Cincinnati sweeps Pittsburgh for the first time since 1998.

New Orleans Saints at St. Louis Rams
Over/Under 50 Result 51 OVER

Three New Orleans’ turnovers allowed the Rams to keep this game close, but in the end the Saints held on for the win taking their record to a perfect 9-0.

Buffalo Bills at Tennessee Titans
Over/Under 40.5 Result 58 OVER

Once again Titan RB Chris Johnson led the way with 132 yards rushing on 26 carries, 100 yards receiving on nine receptions, and two TD’s as Tennessee won its third straight game after starting 0-6.

Denver Broncos at Washington Redskins
Over/Under 36 Result 54 OVER

Denver’s free fall continues as they lose their third straight game after the Redskins score 17 unanswered points in the 4th quarter. The once stingy Bronco defense has given up a total of 85 points in these losses.

Kansas City Chiefs at Oakland Raiders
Over/Under 36.5 Result 26 UNDER

Raider’s QB JaMarcus Russell was finally benched after going 8 for 23 for a total of 64 yards. Chiefs RB Jaamal Charles proved to be a nice replacement for Larry Johnson, rushing for 103 yards and 1 TD in the win.

Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
Over/Under 47 Result 51 OVER

Arizona QB Kurt Warner had another mistake free game throwing for 340 yards and two TD’s to lead his team to only their second win at home this season against three losses.

Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers
Over/Under 47.5 Result 24 UNDER

The Cowboys’ offense did not have a third down conversion until midway in the 4th quarter and scored their only touchdown with only a little more than two minutes to play in the game.

Philadelphia Eagles at San Diego Chargers
Over/Under 47 Result 54 OVER

The Chargers built a 28-9 lead heading into the 4th quarter, and then hung on to win as Philadelphia’s comeback fell short by eight points.

New England Patriots at Indianapolis Colts
Over/Under 49.5 Result 69 OVER

Bill Belichick’s controversial call on 4th and 2 from their own 28 yard that did not result in a first down opened the door for the Colts to drive 30 yards for the winning touchdown.

Monday, Nov. 16

Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
Over/Under 40.5 Result 16 UNDER

While nobody expected much from the Brown’s offense in this game, give credit to their defense for holding the Ravens to just nine points on offense.

The Saints and the Vikings are starting to put some serious distance between themselves and the rest of the NFC, while something tells be that Bill Belichick will get another chance to coach against the Colts this season, in a much more meaningful game.

YTD Record: 69-74
