LSU vs. Florida Betting – Handicapping Pick

We preview and predict the winner of the week 7 clash between LSU and Florida. Going 3-2 ATS this season has helped affirm the belief that the Gators are still a good bet, but LSU has been playing too well this season for the Gators to take them lightly.

LSU Tigers Look to Dismantle Struggling Gators

A 4-1 SU record might not warrant a “struggling” tag, but the Florida Gators have been nothing short of disappointing this season. A stunning loss to Mississippi still leaps out when you look at Florida, and they’ve otherwise played horrific teams. Going 3-2 ATS this season has helped affirm the belief that the Gators are still a good bet, but LSU has been playing too well this season for the Gators to take them lightly.

The rivalry between these two teams is historic, well documented, and will certainly grab the attention of our players this weekend when the board starts to light up in our sportsbook. This fact was proven when Rickey Jean-Francois, the lippy defensive-tackle for LSU, vehemently stated that if Tebow tries to lower the boom this weekend, the Tigers will try to tear him to shreds and put him on the sidelines.

Fortunately for Tebow, and those still clinging on to hopes of him repeating as a Heisman winner, Tebow has played intelligently enough to stay away from bulldozing linebackers and blood thirsty defensive ends. However his numbers aren’t staggering despite staying in the pocket more often. Tebow has racked up 1025 passing yards and only 8 touchdowns this season, with one pick included.

NCAA Football Betting Trends

-LSU is 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games on the road
-LSU is 1-4 ATS in their last 6 games when playing Florida
-Florida is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games
-Florida is 21-4 SU in their last 25 games at home
-total has gone UNDER in 5 of 6 when Florida plays LSU

It’ll take more than hot air for LSU to overcome a few years of spread losses to the Gators. Their offense has averaged 35.5 points per game, behind a balanced attack of passing (224.0 yards) and rushing, where they tally 206.5 rushing ground yards per game. Charles Scott has plowed the way for the run-heavy Tigers, with 535 yards on 71 carries and six touchdowns thus far.

The Gators are good on defense, but they’re small. The defensive line has lost a lot of talent in recent years to the NFL, and won’t have the size to overwhelm LSU’s vaunted offensive line, nor the speed to overcome that deficit.

LSU Tigers (4-0) vs. Florida Gators (4-1)

Saturday, October 11th — Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, Gainesville — 8:00pm EST
NCAA Betting Line: Florida -6 (47)

The Gators are one of the strongest teams at home. They thrive in the Swamp. But LSU is way beyond the league that the Gators find themselves in talent wise. All the betting trends point towards the Gators, but I suggest you do your best impersonation of a salmon and swim upstream away from the home team.
