A pair of division rivals clash Friday when the Chicago White Sox open a three-game set against the Minnesota Twins at the Metrodome.

The White Sox and Twins are in a battle with the division-leading Detroit Tigers for top spot in the AL Central.

The White Sox are slated to start lefty John Danks, who is 7-6 with a 3.76 ERA. After struggling earlier in the season, Danks has had five solid starts. In his last outing on July 3, he allowed the Kansas City Royals five hits and struck out five over 7 1/3 innings of scoreless baseball.

Danks has a 1-0 record against the Twins this season and a 4-3 career record with a 5.33 ERA when facing Minnesota. He has a 1-1 career mark with a 6.19 ERA at the Metrodome.

The Twins will counter with Francisco Liriano. The lefty is 4-8 with a 5.39 ERA this season.

TRIVIA ANSWER:
2. Defensive Lineman

When he quit the WWE in 2004 to pursue a career in the NFL, Lesnar tried out to be a defensive lineman. He played in a few pre-season games for the Vikings and stirred up controversy within the NFL due to his punishing tackles and highly aggressive style of play. This attitude was the ultimate reason Lesnar was cut from the Vikings, and unsigned by the rest of the league.
