Cappers Texans vs. Vikings Betting Trends + Pick

Preview and Week 9 NFL cappers matchup tips for this week’s Houston Texans vs. Minnesota Vikings matchup, plus an NFL Betting Preview, a look at the gambling trends, plus a free pick…

Vikings Host Texans as Both Teams Look To Reach .500

The Houston Texans, (3-4, 2-5 ATS, 6-1 O/U) have won three straight games after dropping their first four games of the 2008-09 season.

The Minnesota Vikings, (3-4, 2-5 ATS, 4-3 O/U) were ‘supposed’ to be Super Bowl contenders this season but have floundered, struggling with inconsistency.

BetUS NFL online sports betting enthusiasts and fans will watch the two teams try to keep their respective postseason hopes alive on Sunday when they square off at the Metrodome in this matchup.

The Texans thoroughly routed the beleaguered Cincinnati Bengals 35-6 on Sunday to cover the spread in the BetUS Sportsbook as a 9-point home favorite.

Texans’ quarterback Matt Schaub completed a stellar 24 of 28 passes for 280 yards and three touchdowns, hooking up with wide receiver Kevin Walter five times for 70 yards and a pair of TD strikes.

“We’re getting used to winning around here and that’s what we’ve been looking for,” Texans linebacker DeMeco Ryans said. “The morale and confidence in the locker room is up and we’re just looking forward to continuing to do it.”

The Vikings had a bye in Week 8 and needed one after giving up a whopping 48 points in their 48-41 road loss to NFC North rival Chicago on Oct. 19.

Minnesota committed five turnovers against the Bears with veteran quarterback Gus Frerotte throwing four interceptions while going 25-for-40 for 298 yards and two touchdowns.

Elusive running back Adrian Peterson rushed 22 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns, but Minnesota’s defense was nearly non-existent as they gave up a whopping 454 total yards to Chicago while failing to cover the spread as 3-point road underdogs.

Here is a look at the key trends for each team, followed by my in-depth analysis and NFL Free Picks:

The total has gone OVER in 8 of Houston’s last 9 games
Houston is 1-5 ATS in its last 6 games on the road
Houston is 0-5 SU in its last 5 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Houston’s last 5 games on the road
Minnesota is 2-8 ATS in its last 10 games
Minnesota is 3-6 SU in its last 9 games
Minnesota is 1-4 ATS in its last 5 games at home
Minnesota is 6-2 SU in its last 8 games at home
The total has gone UNDER in 4 of Minnesota’s last 5 games at home

NFL Odds

Houston Texans +4½ -110
Minnesota Vikings -4½ -110

Over 47-110
Under 47-110

Analysis: The Texans are about due for a loss and the Vikings have an excellent defense that should limit how many times Houston gets into the end zone. Having a bye last week will also help Minnesota win this contest at home.

Still, something tells me the Texans are somehow going to find a way to cover the spread in what looks like a field goal game to me.
