Cappers Chiefs vs. Jets Betting Trends + Pick

Preview and Week 8 NFL cappers matchup tips for this week’s Kansas City Chiefs vs. New York Jets matchup, plus an NFL Betting Preview, a look at the gambling trends, plus a free pick…

Perplexing Jets Host ‘Absolutely Abysmal’ Chiefs

The New York Jets (3-3 SU, 3-3 ATS, 2-4 O/U), laid a big-time stinker in losing to the Oakland Raiders 16-13 in overtime last week, BetUS Locker Room readers.

Still, their problems are nothing when compared to those of the atrocious Kansas City Chiefs (1-5 SU, 2-4 ATS, 3-3 O/U), who have lost two straight games by a combined score of 78-10, including their pathetic 34-10 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.

The Jets saw veteran quarterback Brett Favre go a dismal, 21-for-38 for 197 yards and no touchdowns while throwing two interceptions.

“I came here to win games like that. So that’s what’s disappointing for me,” Favre said afterward. “I’ve been in a lot of those. You don’t win them all, but I felt like being the first time in that situation, I would pull us out. More than anything that’s what’s disappointing for me. Mistakes were made. I made mistakes. As a team we made mistakes.”

New York also laid the ball on the ground four times, but managed to recover three of those fumbles in losing to the lowly Raiders on place-kicker Sebastian Janikowski’s 57-yard field goal in overtime.

New York’s dismal performance aside, they have a long way to go before sinking to the level of the lowly Chiefs!

One week after getting shut out 34-0 by the Carolina Panthers, Kansas City was routed by the Titans, allowing Titans’ running backs Chris Johnson and LenDale White to rush for 168 and 149 yards respectively.

The Chiefs allowed White to score three times and Johnson once, both on long runs up the middle that came after the Titans created huge gaping holes.

“They hit some big runs at the end,” Chiefs coach Herman Edwards said. “Guys not playing their gaps and that’s kind of been our Achilles’ Heel from the beginning to right now. We worked on it all during the bye week and we thought we had some things corrected.”

Playing without head case, woman-beater, Larry Johnson, suspended by the team for his off-field actions, the Chiefs managed just 58 total rushing yards.

The beleaguered Edwards also played three quarterbacks in the same game for the second time this season, with only rookie, Tyler Thigpen, be able to move the team at all.

Thigpen led Kansas City to their only points of the game, scoring the team’s only touchdown on a nifty 14-yard touchdown run after escaping the Titans’ fierce pass rush.

Kansas City will almost assuredly be without Johnson again as the fifth-year running back is likely to be suspended either by the team or commissioner Roger Goodell for another alleged incident in which he apparently struck a female patron at a Kansas City-area night club, Johnson’s fourth such incident involving a woman since being drafted by the Chiefs in the first round of the 2003 draft.

Here is a look at the key trends for each team, followed by my in-depth analysis and NFL Free Picks.

Analysis: I really don’t like the high point spread in this matchup very much as I believe the Jets are mediocre at best this season – even with Favre on the roster. I want to advise all BetUS NFL Sportsbook wagering enthusiasts to take the ‘Over’ in this contest first and foremost.

As far as the ATS spread is concerned, I say take the Jets to cover the spread narrowly since they are playing at home.
