Week 7 Fantasy Football Waiver Wire

Week 7 NFL waiver wire plus fantasy football lineup tips to help decide who to start or bench on your fantasy football team…

WAIVER WIRE WEEK 7

This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. Dave B scours the free agent pools in fantasy land for the best available talent every week. Availability, of course, depends on the league. We’re using 12 team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median, but we’ll look for roster candidates for leagues of all shapes and sizes.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our cheatsheets, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.

Detroit, Indianapolis, NY Jets and Houston are all one byes this week – a lot of offensive talent won’t be available to you. It’s time to scour the Waiver Wire to find decent replacements for Manning Wayne, Schaub, Foster, Andre Johnson and so on.

Below is a list of possible Waiver Wire additions that could help you minimize the damage of your Studs’  bye week. Enjoy and be sure to leave a comment!

QBs

Kevin Kolb – Philadelphia Eagles – Kolb is pure speculation at this point but there is no denying that this guy can play. 326 yards and three touchdowns Sunday is proof. There is still a chance that Vick isn’t quite healthy next week and with Manning and Schaub on byes, you could do worse than Kolb.

Matt Cassel – Kansas City Chiefs – You may get booed all over your Fantasy Leagues but the numbers don’t lie. Cassel appears to finally be getting it. Against Houston, he went 20/29 for 201 yards and three touchdowns. On tap are Jacksonville, Buffalo, Oakland and Denver – defences that have been very accommodating to opposing quarterbacks.

Others to Monitor: Colt McCoy – Cleveland Browns, Matthew Stafford – Detroit Lions

RBs

Chris Ivory – New Orleans Saints – Ivory had a great game but his playing time will certainly be cut once Pierre Thomas and Reggie Bush return to action. 158 yards on Sunday is no joke however. The Saints play Cleveland in Week 7 so get him and plug him in!

Danny Woodhead – New England Patriots – Could this finally be the dual threat every down back that Bill Belichek has been waiting for? Your guess is as good as mine! But one thing is certain; Woodhead can run the ball and catch the ball – sort of like a better Kevin Faulk, who Belichek loves! Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

WRs

Donario Alexander – St. Louis Rams – We all knew than Amendola wasn’t going to be a super Fantasy Stud in St. Louis – someone else was going to have to step up and fill the Mark Clayton role. Maybe Alexander is the man – 72 yards and a touchdown on Sunday has him on the Fantasy radar.

Deion Branch – New England Patriots – What a difference a venue makes! Branch had his best game in years with nine catches for 98 yards and a touchdown. He is in a Tom Brady offense – pick him up!

Jason Avant – Philadelphia Eagles – DeSean Jackson sustained his second concussion is two years and this one looked nasty! He could be out a while leaving Avant to pick up the slack.

Others to Monitor – Nate Burleson – Detroit Lions, Jordy Nelson – Green Bay Packers, Mario Manningham  -NY Giants, Michael Jenkins – Atlanta Falcons

TEs

Heath Miller – Pittsburgh Steelers – Big Ben gives him fantasy legitimacy. For those of you who dropped him when Charlie Batch was the quarterback, go and get him again!

Ben Watson – Cleveland Browns – Watson looks like the best option in the Browns receiving corp. He will continue to be leaned on heavily, especially if Colt McCoy continues at quarterback.

Others to Monitor: Randy McMichael – San Diego Chargers and Fred Davis – Washington Redskins as fill-ins for injured Stud Tight Ends

Defense

Seattle Seahawks – The Seahawks have been getting their share of sacks and turnovers this season. The Cardinals and the Raiders are next up for a team that has already had their bye! No shame at all in picking up this unit,

St. Louis Rams – The Rams have been in the Top 10 in most defensive categories all season and only really had one bad game this year. They are generating over 3 sacks per game, nearly 1 interception and a forced fumble every second game. Tampa and Carolina are up next – two sub-par offenses.
