This is our waiver wire pick-ups column. Dave B scours the free agent pools in fantasy land for the best available talent every week. Availability, of course, depends on the league. We’re using 12 team, 15 roster spot leagues as the median, but we’ll look for roster candidates for leagues of all shapes and sizes.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our cheatsheets, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.

Fantasy Playoffs are either starting in Week 13 or they are right around the corner. It is time to bolster your lineups and maybe plug some holes left by players like Adrian Peterson or Jahvid Best.

There are some quality names on the Waiver Wire this week, so take a look, choose wisely and good luck in your Fantasy playoffs.

QBs

Kerry Collins – Tennessee Titans – Collins was actually the official backup last week and for some reason he didn’t get onto the field against Texans. He has had some success in this offense and is going against a bad Jacksonville defense this week.

Chad Henne – Miami Dolphins – He was dropped in most leagues when it was feared that he was lost for the season. Guess what – He’s Baaack and looking pretty good. In Week 13, he passed for 307 yards and two touchdowns.

Matt Cassel – Kansas City Chiefs – Don’t laugh! Cassel has thrown 12 touchdowns and just 1 interception in his last four games. Denver is up next and we have all seen how offenses have lit them up lately!

RBs

Maurice Morris – Detroit Lions – Jahvid Best is still hurting and there is a chance that Detroit shuts him down for a while. Morris looked pretty good in relief, gaining 75 combined yards and scoring two touchdowns against New England.

Toby Gerhart – Minnesota Vikings – Adrian Peterson is day-to-day with an ankle injury that he called “unbearable”. Gerhart is a good handcuff and could be an excellent play this week against a porous Buffalo run defense – if AP doesn’t play.

Mike Tolbert – San Diego Chargers – It doesn’t look good for Ryan Matthews to come back this week meaning that Mike Tolbert may be the man for the rest of the season. In his last two games, Tolbert has eclipsed 100 yards and scored in both. Pick him up NOW!

Other to Monitor: Brian Westbrook – San Francisco 49ers

WRs

Jacoby Ford – Oakland Raiders – Ford looks like the AFC Devin Hester. He is a threat every time he touches the ball and the Raiders coaches are starting to catch on. On Sunday, Ford had 4 catches for 108 yards and a touchdown for the largely ineffective Raiders. Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

Danario Alexander – St. Louis Rams – Alexander has appeared on this list before (a couple of weeks ago) but a knee injury sidelined him. He’s healthy again and ready to contribute for your Fantasy team again. 95 yards receiving on Sunday is proof.

Ben Obomanu – Seattle Seahawks – Obomanu’s numbers may slip a bit when Mike Williams returns from injury but 10 catches for 246 yards and two touchdowns in his last two games has him firmly on the Fantasy Radar.

TEs

Kevin Boss – NY Giants – Boss was quiet until the second half of Sunday’s game. When Eli remembered him, the Giants started seeing some success. Eli won’t make the mistake of forgetting him again. Other than Manningham, Boss is Manning’s second most reliable option.

Billy Bajema – St. Louis Rams – It may be a flash in the pan but Bajema’s two touchdowns on Sunday is certainly worth considering. Sam Bradford obviously loves to get the ball to his tight ends in the Red Zone especially. If you are a gambling man, take a shot.

Defense

Seattle Seahawks – This unit started the season strong but have fallen off the map of late. Still, they face the Carolina Panthers this week and anyone facing Carolina is worth a look.

Miami Dolphins – Miami is a better unit than they have been playing and this week they get to face Jake Delhomme who is arguably the worst quarterback that I’ve ever seen play. I take that back – I am watching Derek Anderson as we speak.
