HOT AND NOT WEEK 3

If you are in need of a HOT fantasy football player these Top Hot players for the week should help you out if they’re in your lineup. They may also be free agents on your waiver wire.

If you need to dump a lame duck on your team, these NOTS should be them. Throw em in the trash if you can afford to not have them on your bench. Fantasy Football always favors the prepared mind.

The more research you do, and the more HOT players you have to choose from on your team, the better your odds are of winning your fantasy football league outright this year.

Hot and Not – Week 3

Week 3 of the NFL season is upon us and the first two weeks have given us a glimpse into what we can expect from the Fantasy players that we drafted. Some have overachieved and some have totally underwhelmed.

Below is Dave B’s Week 3 version of Hot and Not. Enjoy!

Hot

QBs

Peyton Manning – Indianapolis Colts – Manning has thrown for three touchdowns in each of the first two games and 688 yards total. He’s got a Denver team that may be without Champ Bailey on Sunday and then Jacksonville up next.

Jay Cutler – Chicago Bears – Cutler has been putting the ball in the air a lot and hasn’t been throwing interceptions! He’s got five touchdowns so far and 649 yards passing. Shootouts with Green Bay and the Giants are on the schedule. He should remain HOT under mike Martz’s system.

Michel Vick – Philadelphia Eagles – Surprised? Me too! Vick was named starter this week even though Kolb is healthy. Obviously, Coach Andy Reid and some of the players feel that Vick gives them the best chance to win. He’s got Jacksonville and a Washington team that Matt Schaub passed for nearly 500 yards on coming up.

RBs

Adrian Peterson – Minnesota Vikings – He’s about the only thing going right in the Minnesota offense. He’s catching the ball more than ever and now he doesn’t have Chester Taylor to take his place on third down.

Darren McFadden – Oakland Raiders – I don’t know how long it will last but there is no denying that McFadden is HOT. 30 carries for 145 last week after a great Week 1 should keep him as the starter in Oakland.

Frank Gore – San Francisco 49ers – Frank had a down week against Seattle but he was a beast against New Orleans. He is a dual threat back that has to be a huge part of his team’s offense. The Niners will feed him often and with KC and Atlanta coming up, Gore should be a monster.

WRs

Miles Austin – Dallas Cowboys – He’s playing in the second ranked passing offense on a team that has NO running game to speak of. Austin has averaged 10 catches and 144 yards so far this season.

Roddy White – Atlanta Falcons – 20 receptions so far this year and a staggering 35 targets! With that many looks, White has to be considered HOT.

Dallas Clark – Indianapolis Colts – Clark has put up incredible numbers so far – 16 catches, 163 yards and two touchdowns in two games. I can’t see his production slowing down any time soon.

Not Hot

QBs

Brett Favre – Minnesota Vikings – Favre has one touchdown and four interceptions so far this season. It may be the lack of receiving threats, it may be the rust or it may be the age but Favre certainly is NOT HOT.

Chad Henne – Miami Dolphins – Hard to believe that a quarterback with a 2-0 record can be NOT HOT. Henne only has one touchdown so far this season and is averaging 148 yards passing.

Joe Flacco – Baltimore Ravens – Flacco has only tossed one touchdown and has thrown five interceptions. Things may get better against Cleveland this week, but Pittsburgh is on deck.

RBs

Cowboys RBs – Ugh! The Cowboys trio of Barber, Jones and Choice combined for 36 yards rushing last week and now own the 28th ranked rushing offense in the NFL.

Maurice Jones-Drew – Jacksonville Jaguars – Has anyone seen MJD? Maurice has yet to visit the end zone this season – shockingly NOT HOT.

Shonne Greene – NY Jets – Greene has just 70 yards total rushing in two games. LaDainian Tomlinson looks like the better back in New York and threatens to be this year’s Thomas Jones. He will likely get the bulk of the carries going forward.

WRs

Braylon Edwards – NY Jets – What a boob! Blowing two times the legal limit during the season is inexcusable. I hated Edwards before – I hate him even more now.

Steve Smith – NY Giants – Steve Smith has yet to get it going this season. Last season, he was Eli’s go-to-guy. This season, he’s just another average possession receiver.

Lee Evans – Buffalo Bills – He was shut out last week and wasn’t a factor at all in Week 1. For a #1 receiver, he’s NOT HOT.
