FANTASY GURUS – READY TO BET ON NFL WEEK 10? WE’VE GOT YOUR PICKS —–>

Week 10 can only one thing –  the start of Thursday Night Football! It is also the week that two of the best quarterbacks in the NFL (Brees and Rivers) are on byes. There are some quality matchups out there – some waiver wire gold that could be started in place of these Studs.

Take a look at Dave B’s Week 10 Start and Sit – Fantasy Matchups and good luck this week!

Keep the comments and questions coming – I will do my best to get to each and every one of the!

Baltimore at Atlanta Thursday, 8:20 PM

This is a matchup of pretty good defense and good offenses as well. For Baltimore, Joe Flacco is a legitimate play this week. He has averaged nearly 275 yards and two touchdowns his last three games. Ray Rice and Anquan Boldin have to be in your lineups as well. Derek Mason is OK in PPR leagues only and the Baltimore defense is always a threat to score. For Atlanta, you can’t bench Matt Ryan at home! Roddy White should be fine after tweaking his ankle on Sunday so start him as well as Michael Turner who is on fire right now.

Detroit at Buffalo 1:00 PM

Matthew Stafford is out again but don’t be afraid to throw Shaun Hill into your lineups if you have Rivers or Brees on a bye. He was good in earlier relief appearances. Calvin Johnson is a must play and Nate Burleson could be a sneaky WR3 play. I still don’t trust Jahvid Best but if he’s all ya got – trot him out there. Brandon Pettigrew was a favorite of Hill early in the season – no reason to think different now. For Buffalo, Ryan Fitzpatrick is a starter on my team – he should be good for 250 yards and two scores easily. Steve Johnson is about the only other sure-fire starter for the Lions. Fringe starters include Fred Jackson and Lee Evans.

Minnesota at Chicago 1:00 PM

There are very few must-starts in this game which is surprising! Adrian Peterson will have a big day; Visanthe Shiancoe is worth a look as is the Minnesota defense. I still don’t trust Brett Favre and word is that Percy Harvin is suffering from migraines again. Nobody on the Bears is in the must-start category; the Minnesota defense is likely to have their way with the entire offense. That means Cutler, Forte, Knox and Bennett are all risks on Sunday.

NY Jets at Cleveland 1:00 PM

This is another game void of absolute must-starts. For the Jets, I like LaDainian Tomlinson to bounce back from a recent mini-slump and I love the Jets defense as always. Dustin Keller is a Top 8 Tight End again so don’t be scared to use him this week. For Cleveland, the only player that I would consider is Peyton Hillis – period!

Cincinnati at Indianapolis 1:00 PM

The Cincinnati offense has certainly underwhelmed this season but there is no denying that Terrell Owens has to be in your lineups. This may be the week that Cedric Benson finally gets it going against a poor Indianapolis run defense. Carson Palmer and Chad Ochocinco have become bye week fill-ins, bordering on “bench status”. For Indianapolis Manning, Wayne and Garcon are every week plays until further notice. Jacob Tamme has become an every week play as well. I am still not convinced of the Indy running game so look elsewhere if you can.

Tennessee at Miami 1:00 PM

Welcome to Tennessee Randy Moss! You have made Vince Young a borderline starter and have made yourself into a legit Fantasy starter! Chris Johnson is a Top 10 play this week – make sure he’s in your lineup (I didn’t have to tell you that did I???). For Miami, Chad Henne has been benched and I have no idea what to expect from Chad Pennington. You still have to start Brandon Marshall and even Davone Bess in PPR Leagues. I still have little faith in the Miami running game but Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams will do no worse than 50 yards with upside on Sunday.

Carolina at Tampa Bay 1:00 PM

Stay away from Carolina! I can’t recommend anyone from the league’s worst offensive team. For Tampa, Josh Freeman is an OK play as is LaGarrette Blount. Mike Williams and the Tampa Bay defense are good plays however.

Houston at Jacksonville 1:00 PM

In a game that features two of the worst defenses in the league; it is OK to start everyone. For Houston, Matt Schaub, Andre Johnson and Arian Foster are all good to go. For Jacksonville, I am not scared to start David Gerrard, Mike Sims-Walker, Marcedes Lewis or Maurice Jones-Drew. All should get their numbers this week in what could be the highest scoring game of the weekend.

Kansas City at Denver 4:05 PM

Kansas City will be out to avenge a poor offensive performance from last week. That means that Jamaal Charles and Thomas Jones should both be prime for a big game. Dwayne Bowe and Tony Moeaki are also quality starts this week. For Denver, Kyle Orton and Brandon Lloyd are unbenchable at the moment. Unfortunately, they are the only reliable starters for the Broncos.

Dallas at NY Giants 4:15 PM

Dallas is going to be down early in this game which means that they will throw a lot. I’m still staying away from Jon Kitna but I wouldn’t hesitate on Miles Austin, Dez Bryant or Jason Whitten in this game. Roy Williams has crawled back in his shell and the running game may see 10 touches total again in this game – stay away! Start every Giant! That means Eli Manning, Ahmad Bradshaw, Brandon Jacobs, Hakeem Nicks and Steve Smith. You won’t be sorry!

Seattle at Arizona 4:15 PM

Seattle was fairly productive in their last meeting but they were at home. I can’t recommend any Seahawks as must-starts when they are on the road but Mike Williams and Marshawn Lynch could be considered desperate fringe starters. For Arizona, I still can’t recommend the running game but I have a feeling about Beanie Wells this week. If you are a gambling man/woman, take a shot. Larry Fitzgerald is almost back to must-start status, don’t be afraid to start him and the Arizona defense has been the best Fantasy unit over the past five weeks – start!

St. Louis at San Francisco 4:15 PM

The Rams could make a huge statement in this game. That doesn’t mean that there is Fantasy gold on the roster however. Steven Jackson is obviously a start, but the rest are risky. Sam Bradford may be OK but look for other options if possible. I also like Danny Amendola in PPR leagues only. For San Francisco, Frank Gore is obvious as is a finally healthy Vernon Davis. Michael Crabtree is best as a WR3 but may pay off for you as well.

New England at Pittsburgh 8:20 PM

It’s hard to love the Patriots offense right now no matter who they play. Tom Brady has had success against the Steelers – start him but temper your expectations. Wes Welker is just a fringe starter these days – a WR3 but Aaron Hernandez is a nice option considering the state of the Tight Ends lately. If you saw what the Cleveland Browns did to the Patriots defense last week you will start all your Steelers. That includes Ben Roethlisberger, Rashard Mendenhall, Hines Ward and Mike Wallace. Heath Miller is a good option as well.

Philadelphia at Washington 8:30 PM

Michael Vick showed no signs of rust at all last week and is definitely worth a start. LeSean McCoy, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin should be in your lineups as well. For Washington, I can’t recommend Donovan McNabb but it may be necessary to start him is you have Brees or Rivers on a bye. The only Skins that I can recommend are Chris Cooley and Ryan Torain who is certain to get 20-25 touches this week.

Byes: Green Bay, Oakland, New Orleans, San Diego

I Have Steve Johnson and Larry Fitzgerald starting att my first 2 wideout spots of 3. I have to choose between Nate Washington, Santonio Holmes and Mario Manningham for my 3rd starter. Who do you suggest?

Sean

Hey Sean,

Santonio Holmes would be my clear cut choice here, until I heard that Steve Smith (NY Giants) may not play after sustaining a pectoral injury. If Smith is out, Manningham becomes a very enticing option. Nate Washington will likely be the forgotten man in Tennessee. It will be Moss and CJ2 there!

Bottom line – monitor the situation. If Smith plays, then Holmes is your man. If Smith is out, Manningham could have a big game against a brutal Dallas secondary.
