They somehow always slip to the second or third round – not exactly sure the reason why. After all QBs consistently produce more winning weeks for their owners than not – those of you stuck with Robert Griffin III or Jay Cutler know exactly what I mean!

So who is the cream of the QB crop this year? Let’s take a look in Dave B’s preseason top 10 Quarterback Rankings.

1. Andrew Luck – Indianapolis Colts

It could have been Luck or Rodgers in this spot – either is worthy. A lot of things work in Luck’s favor this year. Andre Johnson will certainly help as will a healthy Dwayne Allen. A strong running game anchored by the reliable Frank Gore won’t hurt either.

Luck threw for 4,381 yards and 40 TDs last year and he added two more scores on the ground. With a bad defense ensuring that Luck will have to wing it all over the park I expect Luck to be Fantasy’s #1 player in 2015.

2. Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers

What keeps Rodgers out of top spot is his recent injury history. He missed nine games in 2013 and he was clearly hobbled at the end of last season as well. He is the reigning MVP after a season he threw 37 TDs and just five interceptions. The guy is good.

Rodgers also has Randall Cobb, Jordy Nelson and an emerging Devante Adams at his disposal and we can’t forget that he has an elite running back to keep defenses honest. If he can stay healthy he’s a stud – no question. There is a serious drop-off after the first two – take a look.

3. Peyton Manning – Denver Broncos

There has been a ton of talk about the demise of Peyton – not sure it’s’ all that warranted. He’s still an elite caliber quarterback that can control a game better than anyone I’ve ever seen. Manning threw 39 TDs last year – a season that was deemed a disappointment!

Peyton is a bit of a risk for sure but well worth it in my eye.

4. Russell Wilson – Seattle Seahawks

Has improved with each and every snap as a pro and now has a new weapon in town in the name of Jimmy Graham. He threw for almost 3500 yards last year and ran for 849 yards -849!

We all know that Seattle is Marshawn’s town but Graham could eat into some of his action. As a result Wilson’s numbers go up. I expect big things from Wilson this year – you should too!

5. Matt Ryan – Atlanta Falcons

Somehow Ryan threw for only 28 TDs last year. That is surprisingly low. Everyone expects his numbers to be better this year, especially with a brutal defense ensuring that the Falcons will have to score a ton just to keep up.

Ryan isn’t quite that elite guy that may envisioned but he is sure to give owners more than their share of good weeks. Julio Jones alone assures that all by himself.

6. Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints

There is about the same amount to like as there is to dislike with Brees heading into the season. What do I like? He’s Drew Brees playing for Sean Payton – they will throw a ton despite all of the talk about the Saints going more to a run-based offense. What don’t I like? The talk about the Saints going more to a run-based offense and the fact that Jimmy Graham isn’t there anymore.

Brees finds himself at the bottom of the second tier/top of the third tier – strange isn’t it! But he could shock a few people and provide some serious value later in the draft.

7. Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers

Cam is always an injury risk but when right is a Fantasy stud. He can help your Fantasy squad with his arm and his legs and in a defense-deficient division, Newton could do some damage. His health is a concern for sure but his talent surely isn’t!

8. Ben Roethlisberger – Pittsburgh Steelers

Was the #5 Fantasy QB last season and is taking his game to a new level. With Le’Veon Bell and Antonio Brown at his disposal there is no reason to think Ben can’t be a QB1 for you this year. The Steelers are going to have to throw to win – their defense isn’t great – that makes Roethlisberger a good bet for a solid Fantasy season.

9. Tom Brady – New England Patriots

Don’t forget about Tom who will have an extra chip on his shoulder this upcoming season. He is still an elite guy that seems to be slipping because of his suspension (which could be reduced). Without deflategate Brady is a top 5 guy – he may carry your team after September.

10. Tony Romo – Dallas Cowboys

Seemingly low-risk guy will produce solid, not spectacular numbers from week to week. Dez Bryant makes him a threat to explode every week but an underwhelming running game this year could mean that teams will focus on the pass a little more. Still, Romo is easily a top 10 Fantasy QB this upcoming season – for sure but not top 5.

11. Ryan Tannehill – Miami Dolphins
12. Eli Manning – New York Giants
13. Philip Rivers – San Diego Chargers
