CFL Power Rankings: Week 3
This week’s CFL Power Rankings feature some familiar faces at the top of the list, as well as a few surprises among the heavy hitters.
Here’s a look at the league’s power ratings
heading into Week 3.
1. Edmonton Eskimos
The Eskimos have been absolutely dominant on both sides of the ball, leading the CFL with 70 points per game while allowing just 38 points through their first two outings. Edmonton is coming off a 28-10 demolition of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Ricky Ray continued his impressive season, throwing for 388 yards and a score; Ray now has 682 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions through two games.

2. Montreal Alouettes
The Alouettes are 2-0 thanks to their offense being as dominant as ever. Montreal has scored 30-plus points in both wins this season, including a 39-25 win over the Roughriders last week.
Quarterback Anthony Calvillo has already fired eight touchdown passes this season, and he needs just one more to become the league’s all-time leader in touchdown throws.
3. Winnipeg Blue Bombers
Defense wins championships—or, at the very least, gets you a nice spot in the power rankings. The Bombers have surrendered just 32 points this season, tops in the CFL.
Winnipeg ousted Toronto 22-16 last week, though it’d be nice to see a few more points on offense.
4. Calgary Stampeders
The Stamps got their first win of the season with a 34-32 win over the B.C. Lions last week. Turnovers have killed the club, as Henry Burris has already gave the ball away five times.
5. Toronto Argonauts
The Argonauts are 1-1 after a 22-16 loss to the Bombers last week. Toronto’s success hinges on quarterback play, and it’s been disappointing so far. [ad-4437448]
Cleo Lemon has thrown for just 435 yards and one touchdown through the first two games, while tossing a pair of interceptions.
6. British Columbia Lions
The Lions are winless through two games, but last week’s 34-32 loss to the Stampeders showed some promise. Travis Lulay accounted for three touchdowns, though he was also on the hook for a pair turnovers. Still, B.C. has racked up 58 points through two games, second best in the CFL.
If the Lions can find a way to solve their leaky defense, they’ll start climbing the rankings before long.
7. Saskatchewan Roughriders
The Roughriders simply can’t get stops. They’ve allowed 42 and 39 points through their first two games of the year, including a 39-25 loss to Montreal last week.
The pass defense has been absolutely horrific, as Ricky Ray and Anthony Calvillo have combined for 713 yards and eight touchdowns against the Riders this season.
8. Hamilton Tiger-Cats
Many observers expected the Ti-Cats to take a major leap forward this season, but they look like they’ve taken several steps back. Hamilton has mustered an embarrassing 26 points through two games, including a 28-10 loss to Edmonton last week.
Kevin Glenn has already tossed four interceptions, while the running game managed just 49 yards against Edmonton in last week’s loss.
