2009 BCS College Football Bowl Predictions

College Football Betting: Time to Go Bowling

On Sunday the BCS broke the tie between the three teams atop the Big-12 South. Oklahoma, Texas and Texas Tech were all tied for the Big-12 South title. Sports betting fans were waiting with anticipation because the team ranked highest in the BCS was going to go to the Big-12 Championship to take on Missouri.

A lot was at stake. Well, the BCS got it right. Even though Texas, who ended up third in the BCS Standings, had beaten Oklahoma earlier this season, there wasn’t a single team in the NCAAF playing better than the Sooners going into this past weekend’s NCAAF games. BetUS online sportsbook fans were waiting to figure out which Big-12 team would make it to Big-12 Championship and, probably, the BCS Championship on January 8th. It’s the Oklahoma Sooners. Finally, the BCS got something right!

Let’s take a peek at some of the upcoming bowl games!

Orange Bowl, Jan. 1st, 2009 – – I want to start with the Orange Bowl because the Cincinnati Bearcats are already in this game. They received an automatic bid because of their terrific regular season. Most online college football fans probably don’t remember the Bearcats playing well enough to get into one of the biggest bowl games of the year. But they did. Who will they face? The winner of Boston College vs. Virginia Tech this weekend! B.C. should be a favorite in the BetUS online sportsbook but Virginia Tech could surprise.

Rose Bowl, Jan. 1st, 2009 – – The only thing I can write about Oregon State is that they had this bid in their grasps and then fumbled it away by getting destroyed by their arch rivals, the Oregon Ducks, 65 to 38. Ouch. Because the BCS Championship is already set, Florida/Alabama vs. Texas/Oklahoma, it makes sense that the USC Trojans will get a bid to play in the Rose Bowl. They do it almost every year, right? The game should be a fantastic one because Penn State, the Big-Ten representative this year, is no slouch. USC will be a heavy favorite against the spread, but college football betting fans will want to do their homework before dumping on the Trojans.

Cotton Bowl, Jan. 2nd, 2009 – – Texas Tech is probably in this game for sure because Texas or Oklahoma will get into the BCS Championship and the other team will get to play in a big BCS Bowl. The Red Raiders have lost two games in a row and facing Ole Miss, who is the most likely SEC team to get the Cotton Bowl bid, is going to be tough. The Runnin’ Rebels have really turned it on this season. The Red Raiders will probably be a favorite against the spread but my online betting dollars won’t be on them in this game. I just like how Ole Miss Coach Huston Nutt has his team playing. This should be an excellent match-up.

Sugar Bowl, Jan. 2nd, 2009 – – Who will make it to the Sugar Bowl this Bowl Season? Well, the Utah Utes are in this game after going undefeated during the regular season. Utah does have quality wins against Brigham Young and TCU, but let’s be honest. The team that they will face, either Alabama or Florida depending on the outcome of this Saturday’s SEC Championship game, is going to run rough shod over the Utes. This is going to be an absolute wholloping. Online sportsbook wagering fans should get their online dollars ready to make some profits because ‘Bama or Florida is going to kill Utah.

Fiesta Bowl, Jan. 5th, 2009 – – The Ohio State Buckeyes should be a lock to get the bid. They are easily the best team in the Big-Ten after Penn State and the way that they almost beat Penn State speaks volumes as to how good this team can be. But the team that they will face, most likely Texas unless Oklahoma blows the Big-12 Championship, is ultra quick on offense. I see Ohio State playing a good game, but Texas should pull away from them towards the end of the third quarter. Against the spread, the Texas Longhorns will probably be very tough in this.

BCS Championship, Jan. 8th, 2009 – – This should shape up to be one of the most competitive, most alluring, most fantastic games for online football betting fans in years. I sound incredibly hyperbolic by writing that, but I can’t even begin to explain my anticipation for this game. If Oklahoma wins the Big-12 Championship this weekend against Missouri, and they should, then Oklahoma makes it to the BCS Championship. If Oklahoma loses, then Texas gets into this game. Who will the Big-12 team face? None other than the winner of the Florida vs. Alabama SEC Championship Game this Saturday. How awesome is that? No matter which way it shakes out, this is going to be one of the best BCS Championship games of all time. Big-12 vs. SEC, high-scoring offenses versus good defenses, terrific coaches on both sides of the ball…is there anything else a BetUS online sportsbook fan could ask for?
