The Warriors come in to this one with four straight road victories and seven wins in their last eight games, but – and it’s a but that would make Sir Mix-a-Lot smile – just about all of it has been accomplished by grabbing low-hanging fruit.
The Eagles will not be making the playoffs are their hugely disappointing season, but at least they are coming off a win, which snapped their 8-game losing streak.
Some of the early bowl games wind up being the best and I think this is a good candidate. Both teams can put points on the board and are not that far from home so there should be a good atmosphere for this Bowl Season kickoff.
You gotta love the NFL! Another scintillating weekend has passed and as per usual there is some significant movement in the Power Rankings. There is a new #1 along with some serious risers and fallers on the charts. Still, the AFC dominates the top spots with the top NFC teams appearing in second tier of this week’s Power Rankings.
The Hawks may not be the favourite but many expect them to compete in the challenging Atlantic 10 conference this season. To date they have put the conference on notice by beating a very good Notre Dame team and losses to Florida State and Creighton are nothing to be ashamed of.
BYU might is no longer a part of the Mountain West Conference but they still played a few games against some familiar foes this season. This will be a chance to show the MWC that they are still a program to be reckoned with.
We haven’t yet even hit the new year and three marquee franchises are struggling. The Heat couldn’t even get it together against the gawdawful Wizards, the Celtics can’t seem to put two good games together, and in Los Angeles Kobe Bryant is doing everything he can to keep from smacking Pau Gasol on the back of the head with a rolled-up newspaper.
In a league season filled with so many throwaway games, it’s nice to be able to check in once in a while on a matchup that has a little juice.
Pau Gasol may or may not play in this one, depending on whether the tendinitis in his ailing knees is acting up.
The Chargers are doing their usual disappointment dance while Pittsburgh has been hanging in there without Big Ben. He is supposed to return and with him comes very strong playoff hopes.
Is anyone going to score in this one. This game features two of the worst offensive teams in the league, one with nothing to play for, the other with little to play for. Exciting Stuff.

The Jets win last week, 7-6 against Arizona, had to be one of the ugliest games you will see all season long. The good news for New York fans is that the Jets have won two of their last three, the bad news is that they are embroiled in an expected QB controversy.
I believe Mark Sanchez is still technically the starter but for how much longer…The sad thing is that he still probably gives this team the best chance to win. It might be interesting to see them give local hero Tim Tebow the start this week though.

Odds are he would have some success as there is no way Jacksonville would have a lot installed for his type play.
The Jets defense should be able to handle whatever Jacksonville throws at them…At 6-6 ATS the Jets are a miserable team to try and predict and there is no pattern in their behaviour really when it comes to home, road, favourite or underdog.
This team is just plain mediocre though that should be good enough this weekend.

This roster is light on talent and has been made even thinner thanks to numerous injuries.
Even though they are playing New York it is surprising they are getting as much respect as they are – just a 3 point dog…T
he Jags have shown a little bit of life with QB Chad Henne at the helm and the coaching staff is already saying he could be the starter next season depending on how things turn out. Top rusher Maurice Jones Drew might have been able to find some room now that the passing game is more competent but he is still sidelined and might not play again this season…
When they are large dogs the Jags have risen to the occasion but in scenarios like these they have been just as likely to roll over as not.
Even at home you have to be careful picking a team like Jacksonville because they just don’t put many points on the board.
At -3, no way but it if creep higher, against the Jets…

Even though these teams are in the same state they haven’t met since 2008. Baltimore is the vastly more experienced team but Washington is hotter coming into this one.
The top and bottom of the NFC South square off in Carolina. Could be a letdown situation for the Falcons who got the Saints monkey off their back in Prime Time last Thursday night.
The Rams and Bills are still in the playoff race, but the loser of this non-conference game can kiss their playoff hopes goodbye.
The Bengals have won 4 straight and are now tied with the Steelers for 2nd place in the AFC North and they are in the playoff picture. The same goes for the Cowboys, who are tied with the Redskins for 2nd place in the NFC East and only trail the Giants by 1 game.
The Colts have been one of the surprising teams in the league this season and they are 8-4 on the season and 5-1 at home. Indy has won 2 straight and 6 of their last 7 and on top of that they already beat the Titans in their house a few weeks back.
