Two games into the NFL season and the Rookie of the Year NFL future odds have been shaken up a little as the sports betting community re-evaluates based on a couple of early performances.
One rookie has really stood out in Week 1 and 2 and his stock has risen with sports bettors. Jets’ quarterback Mark Sanchez is that guy. While many rookies are still just trying to get on the field or are the second and third options in an offensive scheme, the Jets top pick has led his team to two upset victories.
The New York Jets will go from one extreme to the other this season when they hand the reins of their offense to rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez. The USC project was expected to be heir apparent to Brett Favre, who retired, unretired, retired again and will now be plying his trade with the Minnesota Vikings in 2009/10.
With NFL training camps opening in a little more than a month, all eyes will be on the rookie class of 2009. Teams today no longer have the luxury of allowing their first round draft picks to ride the bench as they learn from the veterans, rather they are looking for an immediate return on their investment by inserting them in the starting line- up from day one. Looking at this year’s crop of first round picks, the question is which players will have the biggest impact for their respective team?
University of Southern California starting quarterback Mark Sanchez was carted off the field Friday with an apparent left knee injury.
The LA Times is reporting Sanchez fell to the ground before the Trojans began stretching exercises.
