Buffalo got clobbered by a snow storm this week and players may be considering exchanging their cleats for boots and snowshoes as Ralph Wilson Stadium was buried in a record setting snow fall.

The AFC East is all but decided at this point as the Patriots have a two game lead on the Dolphins, while the Bills sit three games back and the Jets are long out of the picture at six games behind the leaders.

A wildcard isn’t outside the realm of possibility for the Bills, but they will have to almost run the table the rest of the way if they want to keep their slim playoff hopes alive.

Jets

Well the Jets finally won again. They stopped their eight game losing skid two weeks ago in a win over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The victory wasn’t much more than a moral win as the team no doubt needed any confidence boost they could get going into their bye last week.

Gang Green still boasts a top five run stopping defense and they will most likely get a good workout this weekend if the weather has anything to say about it. The snow shouldn’t be a huge factor as the forecast is calling for warmer temps and rain this weekend, conditions that tend to favour a run-heavy attack.

The Jets will need to continue the one thing they’ve done well this year in stopping the run if they want to hang around in this game.

On offense the Jets don’t really boast an attack that puts fear into opponents, with the seventh lowest total yards per game in the NFL at 319, and the fourth lowest points per game at just 17.4.

A lot of that could potentially be blamed on the defense’s inability to get takeaways to either score or give the offense good field position, but in week 10 the D finally stepped up with two interceptions and two fumble recoveries and the offense still only managed to put 20 points on the board.

Bills

The Bills had a chance to take a firm grip on second place in the AFC East last week against the Dolphins but instead did what the Bills do best, and that is to fall flat in important games.

Buffalo was beaten soundly last Thursday by Miami to the tune of 22-9 in a game where the offense just never seemed to be able to get out of first gear.

Buffalo’s offense managed just 13 first downs all game and a pretty sorry 54 yards of rushing. The pass game wasn’t much more effective as Kyle Orton put up just 183 yards through the air.

The inability to get first downs was the big killer though as the Bills were 6/15 on third down and 0/2 on fourth down. This translated into Miami having the ball for five minutes more than Buffalo and ultimately dictating the outcome.

I’d expect Buffalo to be much better this week as their last two losses have come against good football teams that have been on a roll (KC and Miami).

If there’s one thing you can say about the Bills it’s that for the most part, they do beat the teams they’re supposed to beat, and their most lopsided win of the season came against the Jets on October 26 in a 43-23 win.

Week 12 Jets vs. Bills 4* Free Pick

I went against the Jets two weeks ago and they proved me wrong, so why not go against them again?

It’s just too hard to get behind New York’s offense right now. In a game where they won the turnover battle 4-0 against the Steelers they only won 20-13. Most NFL teams will blow teams out by 14 or more when they win the turnover battle by that wide of a margin.

The Bills have to know that stat coming in and taking care of the football will be priority number one. If the Jets don’t get turnovers they don’t win, simple as that.

The Play: Go with Buffalo.
