Dutch playmaker Rafael Van Der Vaart returns to a Tottenham side having served a suspension on Wednesday night against Inter and it couldn’t happen at a much better time for the Spurs who return to White Hart Lane to face a resurgent Everton side.

Van der Vaart has now netted four goals in his three appearances at White Hart Lane in all competitions, while the Hotspur have won three of their last four Premier League matches at home.

Meanwhile, Everton have finally awakened from their early season slumber emerging with a 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the 214th Merseyside on Sunday. Goals from Tim Cahill and Mikel Arteta did the damage as the hosts out-played and out-fought their rivals.

The Toffees are unbeaten in three, and would climb to sixth on the league table with a win on Saturday.

The Blues will be without midfielders Steven Pienaar and Leon Osman, as well as forward Louis Saha, which could affect the squad’s ability to sustain an effective forward attack.

Goals have already been a problem for Everton as they have scored in only four of their eight Premier League games, and will need to end its over-reliance on Tim Cahill, the Australian midfielder who is responsible for half of their eight league goals this season.

However, that could change as they will now face a Tottenham side that don’t seem quite capable of keeping a clean sheet at the moment, with different defenders playing each week, while having kept just two clean sheets in 13 games in all competitions this season.

Keepers Carlo Cudicini and Gomes have split the duties between the sticks, allowing seven goals in eight league matches.

Tim Howard has been solid in net for the Toffees, staring in all eight Premier League contests and conceding just seven goals with 21 saves.

This is will be the 17th Premier League encounter between these sides. The Spurs have won 18, Everton five and there have been 13 draws.

Everton will be trying to win its first back-to-back away games in the Premier League since May 2009, which could prove to be difficult, as the side has not won in their last four Premier League visits to London.

Gareth Bale’s stunning second-half hat trick at Inter Milan in Champions League play earlier this week could just be the spark to ignite a very capable Tottenham squad. You could expect to see goals galore on Saturday, and in football, that means three or four.
