While the Dutch could secure their spot in the knockout stage of the World Cup, the Aussies will be playing for pride as they hope to slow an Orange Crush unit that looked completely unstoppable less than a week ago.
The Dutch far exceeded any expectations that experts and their own fans alike had for them in the World Cup with a stunning 5-1 win over the defending World Cup and defending two-time European Cup champs Spain.
Wesley Sneijder, Arjen Robben and Robin Van Persie were all sensational in the opening game – an ominous sign for the rest of the Group and the rest of the world for that matter.
There wasn’t one aspect of the Dutch game against Spain – a terrific sign for a team that looked to be a tad emotionally fragile before the tournament began.
The key for the Dutch ahead of their second match is to keep their foot on the gas – topping Group B looks essential at this point in time – a date with Brazil in the knockout stage looms for the second place finisher in the Group.

With 5 goals in their opener, look for the flood-gate to continue to be open for the Dutch – but if they forget the gravity of the situation, they could be caught off guard in this one.
Australia was never seen as a threat in the World Cup – a spot in Group B was another nail in their World Cup coffin.
But the Aussie’s represented themselves well against Chile in their first game of the tournament – they took the game to the South American squad for the better part of the second half of the game – only to surrender a goal in injury time and losing 3-1.
Australia seems to rise to the level of their competition – they have posted a couple of major upsets in friendlies the past few years.
Shockingly, Australia has never lost to the Dutch, picking up a 3-2 win and drawing the other two meetings. But this is a different stage and a different Dutch squad.

This match is not about who wins, it is about how much the Netherlands wins by! The enormity of the situation won’t be lost on the Dutch as they rise to the occasion and increase their goals for/against total in Group B.
