NFL Week 4 Picks – Chicago Bears vs. Detroit Lions
Game-day: 10/4/2009
Kick-off: 1:00 pm EST
One thing was obvious about the Detroit Lions last week in their victory over the Washington Redskins. That was that the Lions are a better team than anyone really knows. When rookie QB Matthew Stafford is given time, he can be every bit as effective as the Lions’ thought he would be when they drafted him #1 last April. The Lions’ defense has much better players and much better communication than the team in 2008.

The Chicago Bears have come to life in the past two weeks because their prized acquisition during the off-season, QB Jay Cutler, has been much better behind center. Cutler is seeing he field very well. His quarterback rating has risen in each of the past two weeks and his ability to lead is unquestioned.

Here are a few online wagering trends for this game.
The Detroit Lions are 6 and 1 ATS in their last 7 games on the road.
The Detroit Lions are 4 and 1 ATS in the last 5 meetings between these two teams.
The Chicago Bears are 1-4-1 against the spread in their last 6 games after an ATS victory.
The Underdog is 8 and 2 in the last 10 meetings between these two teams.
This game comes down to whether or not Matthew Stafford and the Detroit Lions can build upon their first victory of the year and whether or not the Chicago Bears can keep their winning streak alive.
The Bears are doing well but running back Matt Forte is only averaging 2.5 yards per carry. Without Forte getting off, the Bears have had to rely on Cutler, tight-end Greg Olsen and wide receiver Devin Hester.
It’s worked two weeks in a row, but against Pittsburgh the Bears were home underdogs and against Seattle last week they were favored by only 1 point and played against Seattle’s second string quarterback.
Stafford is getting better week by week. The Detroit defense is solid and the trends say that Detroit always plays Chicago tough.
The bet is on Detroit at +10 in the sportsbook.
One reply on “Bears vs. Lions Week 4 Spread”
The Lions probably have enough to keep this game within 10, but the Bears will still win outright. This game is another great opportunity for the under.
