The Philadelphia Flyers who are 3-4 in their last four games including a 1-0 loss last night host the Vancouver Canucks who have dropped three straight games ahead of Thursday night’s clash and are 5-8-2 in their last 15 games overall.

For Canucks fans memories of last year’s collapse that started around this time is fresh in their minds. Similar issues are coming to the surface this season – they aren’t scoring goals and are sliding quickly out of the playoff hunt. Vancouver has scored just two times during their skid – something that is going to have to change quickly for this team.

In their last 15 games the Canucks have been held to one goal an astounding seven times.

The Sedins haven’t done much, Radim Vrbata is pointless in three games, Chris Higgins is pointless in four – Alex Burrows in five and Jannik Hansen in six games. Neither of Vancouver’s top two lines is doing anything – the depth that carried this team early in the season has simply gone away!

Ryan Miller should be back between the pipes after a bout of the flu kept him out of the Canucks last few games.

He is 4-2-1 in his last seven starts overall with a terrific 1.86 GAA – but if the Canucks aren’t scoring it won’t matter how well he’s playing.

Miller however is 0-4-0 record and 3.35 GAA in his last five visits to Philadelphia.

The Flyers lost last night in Washington – they failed to score on Brayden Holtby and like the Canucks have struggled mightily to find the back of the net. Philadelphia has gone just 3-6-1 in their last 10 games overall.

They scored seven against the Lightning two starts back the Flyers have netted just one goal combined in their other two games the last week.

The Flyers will start Ray Emery between the pipes after Rob Zepp played the last two games in Steve Mason’s absence. That’s not a good thing for the Flyers – Emery has lost his last three starts and has posted a 4.15 GAA over that span.

NHL Gambling Trends

• VAN are 7-1 in their last 8 vs. Metropolitan.
• Under is 6-1-1 in VAN last 8 overall.
• VAN are 4-10 in their last 14 Thu. games.
• PHI are 5-12 in their last 17 Thu. games.
• Road team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings.
• VAN are 6-13 in the last 19 meetings.

The Flyers played last night and are an awful 2-5-1 in the second game on back-to-back nights. They have allowed 4.38 goals per game in those contests. But judging by the struggling offenses on both sides, goals will likely be hard to come by on Thursday night. Philadelphia is a much better team at home than they are on the road.

They are 11-6-3 at home with 3.05 goals per game and a league-leading 30.1 percent clip on the power play.

As a home dog, they are hard to resist considering the pounding they put on the Lightning the last time they skated at home – despite how average they’ve looked this year.
