The Lightning have defeated the Montreal Canadiens in all three games they’ve played this season by a combined score of 12-3 but enter Monday night’s game having lost two straight games.
Montreal beat the Islanders last time out to snap a two game slide including a 1-0 loss to the Lightning last Tuesday.

The Montreal Canadiens sit two points ahead of the Lightning but have really struggled against their Atlantic Division foe. Montreal’s issues against the Lightning are best illustrated by Carey Price’s numbers versus Tampa.
He has a 3.40 goals-against average in the three games against Tampa Bay this season and has lost five straight games against the Lightning. Those numbers can’t maintain themselves – can they?
After all Price is 15-4-2 with a terrific 1.46 GAA and .951 save percentage in his last 21 games. Price has to beat the Lightning sometime!

The Habs offense sure hasn’t helped in the season series between the teams so far – just three goals in the three games. And the goal scoring hasn’t been great overall lately – just 11 goals in the last seven games.
Max Pacioretty and Lars Eller each have three points in their last two games but PK Subban has one point in four games, Alex Galchenyuk and Andrei Markov each have one point in five games, Sergei Gonchar is pointless in six games and Jeff Petry hasn’t recorded a point in seven.
The Tampa Bay Lightning have beaten the Montreal Canadiens in all aspects of the game this season – offense and defense. The fact that Ben Bishop has outplayed Carey Price is a big sign that Tampa simply matches up very well with their Atlantic Division foe.
Bishop has a 0.99 GAA against Montreal this season and is 6-0-1 with a 0.96 GAA in his last seven meetings – he has Montreal’s number indeed.

Bishop enters the game Hot as well – 2-0-1 with a 1.29 GAA and a .947 save percentage in his last three games.
The Lightning may need Bishop Monday – their superb offense has gone a bit cold the last week or so. Among the league leaders with 3.20 goals per game, Tampa has scored just 1.25 goals per game in their last four.
Ryan Callahan and Alex Killorn are pointless in three games and Brenden Morrow hasn’t recorded a point in his last eight. Nobody is Hot offensively for Tampa which could reasonably lead to the Habs breaking the season curse.

The Lightning are 15-3 in their last 18 home games – as good a home team as there has been the last couple of months. That said it is Montreal’s turn to win one here. With the Habs knowing they will likely have to get by Tampa in the playoffs, stopping the curse during the regular season will on the minds of the Montreal players.
