New York maintained a bit of breathing room in the NFC East with a less-than-impressive 20-17 victory over Miami last Sunday as a 9.5-point home favorite. It is 5-2 straight-up  (3-3-1 against the spread) and the total has gone ‘over’ in four of its first seven games. It now embarks on a brutal stretch of the schedule that starts with the Patriots and includes games against San Francisco, Philadelphia, New Orleans, and Green Bay.

If the Giants are going to have any chance of winning this Sunday they will need another solid effort from Eli Manning. He is has completed 64.7 percent of his passes for 2,127 yards and 13 touchdowns, but more importantly, he has only turned the ball over seven times (five interceptions and two lost fumbles).

New England comes into this game licking its wounds after getting pushed around by Pittsburgh last Sunday in a 25-17 loss as a three-point road favorite. The setback dropped it to 5-2 SU on the year and 4-3 ATS. The total stayed ‘under’ the 52-point line, but has gone ‘over’ in four of its other six games. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

As long as Tom Brady and Wes Welker stay healthy the Patriots should have no problem putting points on the board. However, there is a genuine concern with a defense that is ranked last in the NFL against the pass, last in total yards allowed, and 17th in points allowed; giving-up an average of 22.9 points a game.

The Giants are 13-6 ATS in their last 19 games as underdogs on the road and the total has gone ‘over’ in eight of their last 11 games as underdogs.

The Patriots are 25-9-1 ATS in their last 35 games following a SU loss. The total has gone ‘over’ in eight of their last nine games as favorite at home.

Head-to-head, New York is 1-4 SU in the last five meetings, but 4-1 ATS. New England will not lose two games in-a-row especially at home, but stick with Manning and the Giants to keep things close enough to cover with the nine points.
