Donovan McNabb will play his first game at Lincoln Financial Field as a Redskin this Sunday afternoon when Washington travels to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles in a big early season NFC East showdown. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:15 p.m. and will be broadcast nationally on FOX.

Washington’s blockbuster offseason trade for the 11 year veteran McNabb has already begun to pay dividends despite its disappointing 1-2 start. In his first three games as a Redskin, he has completed 62-of-102 attempts for 833 yards and two TD’s and has this offense ranked seventh in passing and 13th overall. This is a far cry from last season’s 22nd overall ranking.

The problem with the Redskins has been their inability to run the ball. Featured back Clinton Portis has been held to just 140 yards on 38 carries for a very average 3.7 yards per carry. As a team they are ranked 28th in the league, averaging just 74.3 rushing yards per game. NFL Betting

Another major problem with Washington has been an incredibly porous defense. It blew a 17 point lead against Houston in a 30-27 loss in Week 1 and last week gave up 30 points to a St. Louis offense that was previous ranked near the bottom of the league. The Redskins are ranked 31stagainst the pass and dead last in total yards allowed.

Philadelphia has already had its share of drama this season primarily revolving around Michael Vick taking over for Kelvin Kolb as its starting QB. The results have been spectacular, but this is just another chapter in the history of a team that seems to thrive on controversy. In 10 quarters of play, Vick has thrown for 750 yards and six TD’s while adding another 170 on the ground. He has the Eagles offense ranked ninth in total yards and third in total points and most importantly first in the division at 2-1.

The Eagles have also been sketchy on defense. Last week they completely shutdown Jacksonville on the road; holding them to three points, but the week before gave up 32 points to Detroit and almost allowed the Lions to make a dramatic comeback in a game that was considered out of reach. Overall they are ranked 11th in total yards allowed but 20th in total points allowed.

The Redskins are 1-5 straight-up and 1-4-1 against the spread in their last 6 games, while the Eagles are 3-3 SU and 1-5 ATS in their last six. Head-to-head, Philadelphia has won five of the last eight games SU and is 3-4-1 ATS. The games between these two teams always seem to come down to the wire as the road team is 5-1-1 ATS in their last seven meetings and the underdog is 5-1-1 ATS as well.

With the added motivation that McNabb will bring to this game, this should be another tight one with the Eagles getting the win, but the Redskins covering the six.

Redskins/Eagles Betting Trends:
