Buffalo’s impressive 31-24 victory over Philadelphia last Sunday as a three-point home underdog has this team off to a surprising 4-1 SU start (3-2 ATS) that has it tied with New England atop the AFC East. The Bills actually have the early edge over the Patriots after beating them 34-31 in dramatic fashion as a seven-point home underdog. The total has gone ‘over’ in all five of their games.
Offensively, the Bills have been extremely productive so far, especially in the second half. Overall they are ranked 11th in the league in total yards and third in scoring with 32.8 points a game. The defense has been a bit suspect at times and could be a long term concern for the continued success of this team. It is ranked 30th overall; 26th against the pass and 29th against the run. New York has played true to form over the first five weeks with some outstanding performances mixed in with some downright ugly play. It comes into this game with an overall record of 3-2 both SU and ATS and looking to bounce back from a 36-25 loss to Seattle as a 10-point home favorite. The total has gone ‘over’ in three of its five games.
As Eli Manning goes, so goes the Giants. The eight-year veteran has thrown for 1,486 yards and 11 touchdowns while completing 63.4 percent of his passes, which is the highest completion percentage in his career. He has also turned the ball over seven times (five interceptions and two lost fumbles) and has been sacked 14 times in the first five games. As a whole, the Giants’ offense is ranked 13th overall and their defense is ranked 20th.
The Bills are 6-2 ATS in their last eight games as road underdogs and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last six games on the road.
The Giants are 2-5 ATS in their last seven home games and the total has gone ‘over’ in five of their last seven games at home.
These two have not played one another since 2007, when New York cruised to a 38-21 victory as a one-point road favorite. Things will be much closer this time around and while the Giants get the win at home, stick with Buffalo to cover with the three-points.
The Pick: New York 33 Buffalo 31
