While the Bears looked like they had phoned in the season, they’ve ran off two straight 21-13 victories and have kept themselves alive in the NFC North standings.

Chicago

After allowing 50+ points two straight games, the Bears defense has responded with allowing two 13 points games. With Matt Forte finally getting his groove back, the Chicago Bears will look to ride this momentum into a key clash with division rival Detroit. Currently, the Bears sit in third place two games in back of second place Detroit and three games back of front running Green Bay.

The Bears defense is coming off perhaps their most impressive showing this season, forcing four turnovers and allowing just 66 yards on the ground. Going up against the lions 10th ranked passing offense (251.7 yards a game) they’ll need to improve their pass defense drastically which ranks 28th in the NFL (260.5 yards a game).

Cutler has done his best to improve on taking care of the football the past couple of games. He threw 2 interceptions in their week 11 victory over the Vikings, but didn’t throw one last week in the win over Tampa.

On the road this season, the Bears are 3-3 S.U. and 3-3 ATS. Their defense has struggled on the road allowing 31.5 points a game. In order to beat the Lions, they’ll have to carry over what they’ve done at home the past two games.

Detroit

The Lions return home after struggling to find any type of rhythm or stability on their recent two game road trip.

Failing to score a touchdown in either game, the Lions were only able to muster 5 fields goals total in both contests. QB Matthew Stafford will look to get his offense going again against one of the worst road defenses in the NFL.

With the offense failing to generate much, look for Stafford to find Calvin Johnson early and often to get the star WR going.

Johnson has only scored 1 touchdown in his last 7 games. If Calvin Johnson is getting all the attention from the Bears defense, Stafford will look to his second target in Golden Tate.

Tate is having a breakout year with over 1,000 yards receiving.

The Lions will look to string together consecutive Thanksgiving day wins after their 40-10 route of the Green Bay Packers last season.

Previous to their victory over the Packers, the Lions had dropped 9 straight on Thanksgiving.

NFL Football Handicapping Trends:

  • Bears are 8-20 ATS in their last 28 vs. NFC.
  • Bears are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games on fieldturf.
  • Lions are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 vs. NFC North.
  • Bears are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 meetings.

Week 13 NFL Football

While the Lions enter this game looking terrible in their previous two, they are a much different team at home.

Free 4* NFL Pick: Detroit Lions -6.5

With the Bears allowing a combined 106 points in their last two road contests, the Lions offense should get rolling again.

Detroit 30, Chicago 17

Stafford and Johnson connect for a couple TDs en route to Lions 2nd straight Thanksgiving win.
