The Cowboys and 49ers meet inside Levi’s Stadium in week 2 of the preseason. Both teams will try for their first win of the preseason as they dropped road matches in week 1.

Both teams struggled with moving the ball in their respective losses and will look to get back on track here in week 2.

It’s expected that Colin Kaepernick get a little more time than just 1 series on Sunday night as he looked sluggish in his small sample size of playing time. Blaine Gabbert was a lone bright light in the 49ers performance and will look to carry that into this contest.

Kick off is set for 8:00 PM ET inside Levi’s Stadium. The last time these two teams met was during the regular season last year.

The 49ers got a road win 28-17 as they passed for 255 yards in the victory.

Dallas Cowboys

The Cowboys offense was an absolute mess in week 1 as they dropped their opener. However, that shouldn’t raise any red flags as Tony Romo was held out and a cluster of reserves led the way from opening kickoff.

Dez Bryant and Tyron Smith also sat out as they continue to work their way back from minor injuries.

The duo will also sit out this week’s game against the 49ers, but should see a lot of time over the team’s final 2 preseason games.

With DeMarco Murray making an exit this past offseason, the RB position is the biggest key this preseason for Dallas.

Darren McFadden, Joseph Randle, and Lance Dunbar lead the way as the candidates for Dallas.

However, all three continue to deal with ailing injuries, which poses as a giant problem for the Cowboys. McFadden continues to deal with a hamstring injury, Randle is battling an oblique injury, and Dunbar continues to battle an ankle injury.

All three are scheduled to see some time Sunday, but they won’t see significant time.

San Francisco 49ers

QB Colin Kaepernick has proven himself as one of the top elite QBs in the NFL with both his legs and his arm. He didn’t show much during his one and only series in week 1, but will likely see a bit more time heading into the 49ers’ 2nd game of the preseason.

While their offense looked bad, like the Cowboys, last week, Blaine Gabbert was at least encouraging. Gabbert will backup Kaepernick and will need to be 100% ready incase the running QB goes down.

Gabbert was the only 49ers QB to throw a touchdown last week when he found Bruce Ellington for a 20 yard touchdown.

Gabbert has a bit of a chip on his shoulder coming into this season as his resigning was questioned by many people this past offseason.

The star in week 1 for San Francisco was RB Jarryd Hayne. The rookie played in his first game ever as he comes over from being a rugby player.

Hayne broke free for a 53 yard run, which was the longest play from scrimmage.
