I think by any measure you’d have to say Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets was having a successful season in terms of advancing its offensive objectives. The team is ranked second in the nation is rushing, with over 281 yards a game, and they’ve shown they are in great form by way of their 309 yards against Virginia Tech in the 28-23 college football sportsbook victory.

In that game, Josh Nesbitt only had to put the ball up seven times, as he ran for 122 yards and was joined by Johnathan Dwyer (82 yards). Against Mississippi State a few weeks ago, Nesbitt passed for 266 yards, which demonstrates that Paul Johnson’s team will do whatever it has to do to move the ball on offense. Nesbitt and Dwyer have made for a dynamite duo, as they have combined for 174 rushing yards a contest.

Georgia Tech’s only loss came at the hands of Miami, where they self-destructed at the hands of a red-hot Jacory Harris and fell flat in the rushing game. Virginia Cavaliers has started to get itself together on offense a little, and has surged to three straight wins, both straight-up and in the college football sportsbook, but to say that they are at that level would be overstating it. Jameel Sewell (55%, 5 TD’s, 5 INT’s) has thrown only one TD pass in his last three games, and this team is still outside the top 100 in rushing.

The Cavs have been doing it with defense, allowing the last three foes ( North Carolina, Indiana, Maryland) a total of 19 points. With all due respect to those programs, who are in BCS conferences, none of them operate at anything close to the level of efficiency on offense that Georgia Tech has demonstrated. Virginia has been especially tough against the pass (55% allowed, 7 INT’s) but believe me, Johnson’s triple option can certainly live with that.

The Cavaliers, in breaking in their new offensive approach, has to develop a better way of protecting the passer (24 sacks allowed). Georgia Tech will be coming too, as they will test the mobility of Sewell. Revenge is on the Jackets’ minds, as Virginia came to Atlanta and took advantage of three turnovers in last year’s 24-17 win. We’re moving with Georgia Tech, the 5.5-point favorite in the BetUS college football odds.
