NCAA F Betting – Texas Tech Red Raiders at Kansas State

Saturday, October 4

The Texas Tech Red Raiders (4-0 SU, 1-0-1 ATS) will be looking to stay undefeated on Saturday when they square off against the Kansas State Wildcats (3-1 SU, 1-2 ATS) in a Big 12 contest in NCAA college football that is scheduled to kick off at 3:30 PM ET at Snyder Family Stadium (artificial turf) in Manhattan, KS.

BetUS NCAA Football Betting Odds: TEXAS TECH -7.5

Here are some of the NCAA college football betting trends as they relate to this matchup:

* TT has won its last six games SU
* TT has lost four of its last six road games SU
* KSU has won five of its last six home games SU
* TT has covered four of the last five meetings

Kansas State has won five of its last six games at home, and that wouldn’t really mean anything special, except for the fact that the Red Raiders gave up 488 yards in their lone appearance as a visitor when they went to Reno. But there has to be a concern about the Wildcat defense, as KSU has surrendered a total of 1086 in its last two outings, against Louisiana-Monroe and a previously moribund Louisville offense.

K-State has been generating offense at a steady pace, however, and Josh Freeman is demonstrating why some scouts are looking at him with some curiosity (67%, 11 TD, 2 INT). Now that Ball State’s Dante Love is unfortunately down for the season, is there a hotter receiver in the country than Texas Tech’s Michael Crabtree? Yes! It’s Freeman’s favorite target, Brandon Banks, who not only leads the nation in yards per game, but also in average yards per catch (21). And for a Wildcat offense that was lacking balance, hope arrived in the form of Lamark Brown, who was moved from wide receiver to running back and had 137 yards against Louisiana-Lafayette.

What we’re saying is that there is artillery to draw from, and infrastructure as well, as KSU made a number of key additions out of the junior college ranks. Texas Tech is rated seventh by the AP and eighth in the coaches’ poll, but we wonder whether these Raiders, who have not been really tested yet, are as good as that ranking, even though Mike Leach figures this is the best defense he’s had since he’s been in Lubbock.

Guess what? We think K-State can trade blows here. It will be a scoring fest, but with the discovery of the run, and the yeoman’s work from the offensive line (no sacks allowed), Freeman gets to do some business. We’ll grab the points with Kansas State, the 7.5-point underdog in the BetUS NCAA college football betting odds.

Our PLAY: KANSAS STATE +7.5 ***
