The Tar Heels have yet to win on the road this season and look to pick up their first road victory in Charlottesville on Sunday. They can hardly be blamed for failing to win on the road as their three road contests have come against East Carolina, Clemson, and Notre Dame, each of which is currently ranked inside the national top 25.

The team needed to rack up the points last weekend to halt a four-game losing streak, sneaking past Georgia Tech with a 48-43 victory. Quarterback Marquise Williams of course played a big part in helping the Tar Heels to such a lofty point total. He’s set a school record with 898 total offensive yards over the last two games, and is one of only six players in the nation to lead his team in both passing and rushing yardage.

The Tar Heels are scoring 38.7 points per game on the season, but have had difficulty coming up with wins, largely to the fact they possess the nation’s 124th ranked scoring defense, which is surrendering 43.3 points per game.

As for Virginia, head coach Mike London was one of the coaches to enter this season on the hot seat but his team’s performance has certainly made life a lot easier on him. The Cavaliers are 2-1 in conference play thus far, with good wins over Louisville and Pittsburgh. They lost their first conference game of the season to Duke last weekend, 20-13.

The Cavaliers are averaging 29.0 points per game and 407.3 yards of total offense. Senior running back Kevin Parks has been the catalyst for the team’s offense, running for 502 yards and three touchdowns while averaging 4.2 yards per carry.

The Cavaliers defense has been strong as well, surrendering only 22.1 points per game on the season. Through the first seven games of the season, Virginia’s defense has racked up 23 sacks and forced 19 turnovers.

FREE North Carolina vs. Virginia Pick:

The Virginia defense has been solid at home, but North Carolina should hand around in a game that won’t feature as many points as oddsmakers seem to think it will.

The Tar Heels are 6-1 ATS in their last seven games following an ATS win, and they are 4-1 ATS in their last five games in the month of October.

4* NCAA FREE play: North Carolina +7, Under 66.5

The under is 6-2-1 in the last nine meetings between these programs, and it is 4-0 in the Cavaliers’ last four conference games.
