Villanova beat down a fairly decent UCLA team in the 2nd round after struggling vs. American in the opening round. They are 5-2 in the last 7 vs. ACC opponents. They are also 8-3 following an ATS win.The under is 7-1-1 in the last 9 as an underdog and 8-2 in the last 10 against non-conference opponents. Lacking quality big men, the Wildcats are primarily guard dominated.
Duke squeaked by Texas after dismantling an outmatched Binghamton team. Their ATS record vs. Big East teams is 2-8-1 in the last 11. They are a meager 2-10 ATS in the last 12 in the NCAA Tournament. The under is 8-1 in the last 9 as a favorite. The Blue Devils also lack quality big men and rely heavily on guard play.
This might be the most anticipated matchup of the round. Guard play will be dominant. And the team that takes care of the ball better will win SU and ATS. Either way, both teams play good defense and scoring will be at a premium.
