ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview

Texas Tech

The most surprising result of the year though might have been when they played Kansas to a one point loss at home last month. It was the first time they kept the result in single digits since they last beat the Jayhawks in 2009.

Texas Tech does not have the elite talent of Kansas but they have a couple of productive forwards in Jaye Crockett and Jordan Tolbert. Between them they average 24 points and 12.4 rebounds. Unfortunately, after those two there is not a lot of reliable production. This team is solid defensively but they do not average even 70ppg which is likely not enough to stay with Kansas on the road.

The B12 is really good this season and Texas Tech has played some close games so their 15-11 ATS record is not surprising. Still I have yet to figure out when it is wise to back the Red Raiders. With nothing to play for or spoil this doesn’t seem like the right situation though even though I like to avoid serious chalk.

Kansas

The Jayhawks have already clinched the B12 conference title so there is not much to play for in this one. Still this mercurial team is likely to put forth a very strong effort in their last home game of the season, especially since the Red Raiders played them so tight earlier in the year. The are also looking to rebound from a loss in their last game against Oklahoma State so it might not be pretty.

The Jayhawks have better players than Texas Tech all over the floor but the greatest advantage will be in the middle with Joel Embiid. The frosh center has had back to back double-doubles and was very impressive in the first tilt between these two clubs with 18 and 8. They can win without a superlative performance but if he shows up again we have a chance of seeing the kind of Kansas team that can compete for a championship.

Kansas has just one home loss this season and that total is not going to go up in the home finale. They are 8-5-1 ATS at Allen Fieldhouse this season but this one might be a tough cover if some players who otherwise might not see action do because it is the last chance in front of the home faithful.

Spread Pick: Texas Tech +13.5
O/U Pick: N/A
Score Prediction: Kansas 80 – Texas Tech 70
