ATS Matchup Insight | CP Insider Gambling Preview

San Francisco

You might not have noticed but San Francisco finished tied with BYU for second place in the league and has every right to be here threatening for an automatic invite to the tournament.

That is probably the only chance they have to make it that far but they can certainly ruin BYU’s chances either way.

The Dons are an effective offensive unit ranking in the top 30 in the nation in FG%. While most teams prefer to bomb away from outside SFU uses its forwards to get the ball close to the basket and three of them are shooting better than 50% from the field as a result. Leading scorer and rebounder Cole dickerson is powerful and athletic.

He had his best game of the season in a home loss to the Cougars with 26 and 14.

San Francisco was 1-1 ATS against BYU this year but 0-2 SU. They were a good road team ATS this season at 8-4 and covered their lone neutral site contest against San Diego in the WCC tourney.

This team seems to be comfortable with who they are and plays their game. If they were to win it would be their biggest win of the season.

BYU

Even though these teams are tied with identical 13-5 WCC records it is the Cougars who have an outside shot at receiving an at large bid thanks to a stronger non-conference resume. That probably is contingent in them at least making it to the WCC title game which seems likely given that they have beaten the Dons in both tilts this season.

The Cougars will do everything to get this game going at a rapid pace which tips things in their favour.

The Cougars are the third highest scoring team in the country. They have very good depth and SG Tyler Haws might be the least talked about 23ppg scorer ever. One reason to like the Cougars though is that they have found some contributors on the inside.

Freshman center Eric Mika is getting better as the season progresses and Nate Austin provides some necessary beef on the interior while leading the team in rebounds.

BYU has not been a good spread team and failed to cover the number in the quarterfinals against Loyola Marymount. They are playing really well right now, having won 8 of 9, and are eager for another potential shot at Gonzaga who they beat a couple of weeks ago.

They have to get this one and most likely cover in the process.
