The Memphis Grizzlies and Toronto Raptors are just three games apart in the overall standings but because they come from different conferences, they both have very differing goals heading into the latter part of the season.
The Raptos are currently the No. 5 seed in the East and are trying to climb into the No. 4 spot to earn home court advantage. Meanwhile, the Grizzlies are on the outside of the playoffs looking towards the inside in the West. On paper, it might look like the contest should be close but there is ample reason to believe that Toronto will win handily.
What’s Happening With The Grizzlies
It has been a tough stretch for the Grizzlies of late. While they have been a surprise team this year and have competed for a playoff spot, they have hit the wall recently.
The Grizzlies have lost five straight and seven of their last eight. They have lost their grip on the fundamentals as they can’t figure out how to play defense or rebound.
In the seven losses in their last eight games, the Grizz have allowed their opponents to top 100 points each time. Considering they are playing the high-scoring Raptors, keeping them under 100 and winning on the road seems unlikely.
What’s Happening With the Raptors
The Toronto Raptors have quietly pieced together a nice follow up to their ugly 7-13 start. Since that time, the Raptors are 22-10 and have been on somewhat of a cruise control.
They are a quiet team right now but they are only four games behind the Boston Celtics. While the Celtics locker room is having some chemistry issues, the Raptors are hoping that they continue and lead to a team implosion and further struggles..
The Raptors are 20-6 at home this season, so if they can get home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, they believe they have a good chance of finally getting back to the second round.
Outlook:
The Grizzlies are struggling right now and they are on a back-to-back after losing the night before at home to Phoenix. This is a long road trip for them without rest and they could really use a night to clear their minds.
On top of that, their defensive lapses won’t help them against Toronto. They’ll get outrun once again in an easy Raptors win.

Toronto has Boston within their sights in the Atlantic division and have a very good chance to catch them given the way each team is playing. I like the Raptors in tonights game.
