NBA playoff odds: Milwaukee Bucks at Atlanta Hawks

Team records:
Atlanta (53-29, 48-34 ATS)
Milwaukee (46-36, 53-28-1 ATS)

The Atlanta Hawks have a 1-0 lead in their NBA Playoffs series with Milwaukee after a 102-92 victory on Saturday. The Bucks are trying to get by after losing center Andrew Bogut, but it’s looking like an even tougher task after the Game 1 defeat.

Matchup: Bucks at Hawks

Time: Sunday at 7:00 p.m. ET
Venue: Phillips Arena
Spread: Atlanta -7.5
Over/Under: 189

The Hawks are on a roll, having won five consecutive games dating back to the regular season. Saturday’s 102-92 victory was good enough to cover the 8.5-point spread, meaning Atlanta has delivered wins at the sportsbook in four straight games.

The Hawks have a pretty good handle on the Bucks, as they’ve gone 7-3 straight up and 6-4 against the spread in their last 10 games with Milwaukee.

Atlanta has covered seven of its past 10 games at Phillips Arena.

Milwaukee has lost three of its last four games dating back to the regular season. That includes three losses against the spread, although perhaps another road game will serve the Bucks some good—they’re 8-2 on NBA odds in their last 10 games away from home. If there’s one trend to back in this series, it’s taking the over on the total. Milwaukee and Atlanta have gone over in nine straight meetings; most sportsbooks have the total set at 189. The Bucks were blasted in the first half of Game 1. Atlanta exploded to a 62-40 lead and never looked back. The offense was flowing from every direction, as six different Hawks chipped in with double-digit scoring efforts. Joe Johnson led the way with 22, while Jamal Crawford came off the bench to score 17 points. Mike Bibby chipped in with 19 points and Josh Smith had a double-double (12 points, 10 assists).

Despite playing his first ever playoff game, Brandon Jennings stepped up with 34 points for Milwaukee. There was little help elsewhere, though. John Salmons had 16 points and Ersan Ilyasova added 11 off the bench, rounding out Milwaukee’s entire list of players with double-digit scores. Without Bogut the Bucks also got out-rebounded 40-35.

It’s been fun watching Milwaukee grow into a competitive squad this season, and losing Bogut was downright unfair. But “ Them’s the breaks,” as they say, and Atlanta is poised to cruise to a 2-0 lead in this NBA Playoffs series. Go with the Hawks.
