While the Cavs have looked unstoppable during their winning streak, they’ll head into Indiana on Friday looking to snap an 8 game losing streak inside Bankers Life Fieldhouse.

Cleveland

When Cleveland started this winning streak they were fighting just to get into 2nd place in the NBA Central Division. They’re now well clear of 2nd and have even jumped the Chicago Bulls for 1st place in the division by a .5 game following yesterdays victory over the Clippers.

While the final score will only show Cleveland winning by 9, the Cavaliers led by as many as 32 against the Clippers when the starters were on the floor.

F Kevin Love was feeling a bit of pressure as his performances have not been good as of late. Following a pre game meditation routine, Love came out firing as he dropped 10 first quarter points and finished the game with 24.

Cleveland has shown the ability to score at will, but their defensive play has been extremely improved. In their last 10 games, the Cavs defense has held the opposition to just 92.1 points a game. Their season average continues to drop, as they now allow just 99.0 points a game (13th).

On the road this season, Cleveland brings in a 12-11 S.U. record. However, they’ve covered only 9 of their road games.

Indiana

The Pacers sit only 3.5 games out of the 8th seed in the East, but have multiple teams to jump over in order to get into the playoff picture. Indiana comes in off one of their most impressive performances of the season in which they scored a season high 114 points in their victory over Detroit. Hill scored 20 points and dished out 6 assists to go along with Hibberts’ 12 rebounds.

George Hill seems to be the centerpiece for Pacers this season. Indiana is 3-1 when he starts and 6-5 when he gets into a game. The team averages north of 100 points a game with Hill in the line up.

The Pacers will be without Lavoy Allen and Ian Mahinmi on Friday night. Lavoy Allen is battling a sore knee injury, while Mahinmi continues to nurse a right ankle injury.

If the Pacers hope to put an end to the Cavaliers win streak, they’ll need to play a nearly flawless game on Friday. Indiana averages 95.4 points a game (26th), but allows only 97.2 points against (6th). They’ll need to bring in that same defensive mentality, but improve on their points per game as Cleveland can score a lot. If this games turns into a shootout, odds are Indiana won’t be in the game.

At home this season, the Pacers are just 10-13 S.U.

NBA Basketball Trends:

  • Cavaliers are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a SU win of more than 10 points.
  • Cavaliers are 10-2 ATS in their last 12 games overall.
  • Pacers are 16-34-2 ATS in their last 52 games following a S.U. win.
  • Pacers are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 home games.

With the media now giving the Cavaliers attention since Atlanta’s win streak has come to an end, expect teams to start giving Cleveland their A games in hopes of putting an end to their winning streak. With this being the 2nd leg of the back-to-back, their could be some tired legs for the Cavs.

Cleveland 101, Indiana 99

Expect a game like this to come down to the wire.
