Golden State

The Warriors are off to a great start to the season under their new head coach Steve Kerr.  After winning their first 5 and then dropping a couple they have put together another 5 game winning streak that they bring with them to Miami. Even more impressive is that they have been without starting PF David Lee for most of the season. As a result they play a little smaller but so far they have been able to be among the top third of teams on defense while posting a top offense as well.  It is working.

Golden State is one of the best shooting teams in the league with the liked of Steph Curry and Klay Thompson leading the way. It also helps alot that their bigs know how to take and make shots with Andrew Bogut and Mareese Speights both shooting 60% or better from the field. Speights has been amazing averaging almost 12ppg in just 14 minutes. If they start getting anything from Shaun Livingston than this team will really be flying.

Miami

It is certainly a lot tougher this season but life has gone on after LeBron down in Miami. They have gotten off to a better start than the Cavs and come into this one off of back to back victories.

D-Wade has missed the last 6 games and it looks like he will miss this one as well. That will certainly not improve their chances of dumping the Warriors but they have been getting by, splitting those game to stay above .500 and a factor in the East. The question is how long can they keep it up.

With LeBron back home Chris Bosh has gotten back to scoring like he did in Toronto. His efficiency is down but he is the top scorer averaging 21ppg. Luol Deng has replaced some of the production that was lost but the real surprise is the play of Shawne Williams. Always a terrific athlete he is enjoying his best season ever in this his 7th in the league. It helps when you are knocking down 50% of your three point attempts.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

NBA Prediction: n/a

A healthy Heat team might have enough offense but without Wade the Warriors should continue their winning streak in Miami on Tuesday night.

NBA Score prediction:  Golden State 105 – Miami 97

I would guess the line to be -3 for GS.  Not bad value.
