Brooklyn

The Nets lost last night in Phoenix and things are not going to get any easier as they travel even further west to Golden State on the second game of a back to back. At its core this is still a pretty old team and these kind of situations are not going to be ones where they thrive.

In last night’s loss they started fast and then faded big time in the 4th quarter. Tonight it might be harder to get off to that kind of start so this one could get kind of ugly.

Travel in the NBA can be very unforgiving.

Joe Johnson is off to a strong start and the Nets appear to have an emerging player in Mirza Teletovic.

Though built like a power forward he is a very good shooter posting 52% on field goals and 45% from deep.

This allows Johnson and even Deron Williams to work the post a little more on offense. It is an untraditional look and it screws up rebounding but this is the way they Nets are built.

Golden State

The Warriors were looking absolutely fantastic after knocking off Houston on the road last week, making them the last undefeated team in the NBA to start the season.

Since then they have lost their last two games and not looking great in doing so, especially when the Spurs dropped the hammer and beat them by 13 points on Tuesday.

The excitement about the team may have dulled but it doesn’t change that they are among the best teams in the West. They are looking to get back on track on Thursday.

Despite the strong start the Warriors have gotten nothing from PF David Lee, and I think his absence is going to be more of a factor depending on the matchup.

They are the best shooting team in the league but Lee’s ability to make shots from in close and to rebound the ball balance things out on nights when they are not falling.

Draymond Green is not the same kind of presence. Lee is questionable for Thursday but I don’t know if Brooklyn has the right personnel to exploit that.
