NBA Betting – Celtics vs. Bobcats (Jan. 6)

Free pick and preview plus NBA betting odds and basketball lines for the matchup featuring the Boston Celtics and the Charlotte Bobcats…

NBA Sports Betting Celtics @ Bobcats

The Boston Celtics (29-6 SU, 19-16 ATS, 15-19-1 O/U) have gone from the longest winning streak in franchise history to their biggest struggles since combining their new ‘Big Three’ last season. Losers of four of their last six games overall, the struggling Celtics will look to bounce back when they visit the similarly struggling Charlotte Bobcats (12-22 SU, 19-15 ATS, 13-20-1 O/U) at Time Warner Cable Arena tonight.

The Celtics are coming off a dismal 100-88 loss to the New York Knicks on Sunday, failing to cover the spread for BetUS NBA sports betting backers as a 10-point road favorite in the BetUS Sportsbook while the combined score fell UNDER the posted O/U total of 207 points.

Forward Paul Pierce led the Celtics with 31 points and shooting guard Ray Allen added 16 points in the loss.

“We’ve just got to come together,” said Pierce. “We talked about it after the game amongst the players, what we’re doing right, what we’re doing wrong, and the good thing about this group, we’re a strong group. It’s just about getting through this period and we know we’re a better team that the way we’ve been playing.”

Boston allowed 100 points for just the eighth time this season – and it clearly didn’t sit well with their players afterward.

“It was the way they scored. It was frustrating watching it happen,” Allen said. “It was disappointing because we couldn’t get a stop. They were scoring in ways that each time they scored it was somewhat letting the air out of the balloon, out of ourselves.”

The Bobcats snapped their three-game losing streak on Saturday, beating the Milwaukee Bucks 102-92 on the second half of their home-and-home series to cover the spread for NBA backers as a 1-point home favorite in the BetUS Sportsbook while the combined score went OVER the posted Over/Under total of 181.

Forward Gerald Wallace netted a game-high 24 points in the win while multi-talented forward Boris Diaw totaled 21 points, six rebounds and seven assists.

“It’s tough to be consistent. It’s tough to get the respect from everybody, the fans to ourselves to the media,” said Diaw, who’s averaging 19.0 points and shooting 62.9 percent in his last three games. “I think it’s hard to convert from a team that was losing a lot of games to being a winning team. It’s a long process.”

Here is a look at the key trends for each team, followed by my in-depth analysis and NBA Free Picks.

NBA Odds

Boston Celtics -9 -110
Charlotte Bobcats +9 -110

Over 178½ -110
Under 178½ -110

Analysis: The Charlotte Bobcats are playing at home tonight and will certainly bring their collective ‘A’ game against the Celtics, but I just don’t see them covering the spread tonight as a downright furious Celtics team takes out their recent frustrations on the mediocre Bobcats tonight.

I like the Celtics to cover the spread by the slimmest of margins.
