Right there with Bryant is Dwight Howard of the Orlando Magic at +300. A bit further back is Steve Nash of the Phoenix Suns, at +450.

Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat is at +550, and Dirk Nowitzki of the Dallas Mavericks at +750.

A few longshots include Derrick Rose of the Chicago Bulls, who is at +9500, and Baron Davis of the Los Angeles Clippers, at +10000.

Anthony, who is averaging 30.3 points per game, has made a strong case for the MVP award since the opening tip-off of the 2009-10 NBA season.

“Melo” scored a total of 71 points in his first two games, scoring 30 points in the Nuggets’ home opener against the Utah Jazz, and following that up with 41 the next night against the Portland Trail Blazers. He picked up the season’s first NBA Player of the Week honor for his explosive start.

In 66 games played last season, Anthony averaged 22.8 points per game and 6.8 rebounds per game. In the playoffs, he averaged 27.2 PPG over 16 games.
