HOT + NOT For Week 3 Fantasy Football

Hot and Not – Week 3

Week 3 of the NFL season is upon us and the Hot just keep getting Hotter while the Not Hot keep getting cooler. The trend toward scoring in the game cannot be denied and it is nice to see more Hot than Not this year in the NFL.

Take a gander t Dave B’s Week 3 Hot and Not list and let me know what you think!

Hot

QBs

Tom Brady – New England Patriots – This is obvious. Brady has tossed for 940 yards in two games, has 7 touchdowns and only one interception along the way. He is King Hot right now.

Aaron Rodgers – Green Bay Packers – All Rodgers has done so far is pass for 620 yards and 5 scores. He has immense command of his offense and although not the hottest in the NFL, he is among the hotter!

Cam Newton – Carolina Panthers – Didn’t see this one coming! Newton has been scorching in his first three games. He has passed for 854 yards so far and three touchdowns. He does have four interceptions but we’ll give him a pass. Also to add to Newton’s heat is the 53 yards rushing and touchdown that he had in Week 2 against one of the toughest defense in the league.

Honourable Mention: Drew Brees – New Orleans Saints, Matt Stafford – Detroit Lions

RBs

Matt Forte – Chicago Bears – Forte isn`t exactly lighting the world on fire with his rushing (an average of 58.5 yards per game and zero touchdowns) but he somehow ranks 3rd in receiving yards with 207 and one touchdown. He`s a combined yards monster and as Hot as any player in the NFL.

Adrian Peterson – Minnesota Vikings – Peterson is manning up on a team full of underachievers. He knows that teams are focussing on him and yet he remains Hot with an average of 109 yards per game on the ground and scoring twice this season.

Fred Jackson – Buffalo Bills – Fred Jackson leads the league in rushing after two weeks – seriously. He is averaging 114.5 yards per game on the ground and has scored twice. I can’t believe that I am saying this but Jackson is Hot!

Honourable Mention: Darren McFadden – Oakland Raiders

WRs

Steve Smith – Carolina Panthers – Smith is scorching – 334 yards receiving in two games along with 2 touchdowns has Smith at the top of the Hot list. No doubt about it, Smith is re-emerging as a total Stud!

Kenny Britt – Tennessee Titans – Britt has been fabulous this season and there is no reason to think that he will slow down. Britt has averaged 135.5 yards per game and has scored three times. [ad-8469823]

Mike Wallace – Pittsburgh Steelers – Wallace is officially in the elite category of NFL receivers and is Big Ben`s most trusted target. Wallace has averaged 116.5 yards per game, has scored just once but has recorded five straight 100+ yard regular season games!

Honourable Mention – Rob Gronkowski – New England Patriots, Brandon Marshall – Miami Dolphins

Not Hot

QBs

Matt Schaub – Houston Texans – Schaub hasn’t been terrible but he certainly is Not Hot. He is averaging 225 yards per game passing, 1.5 TDs per game and 1 interception per game so far. We expect more Matt and therefore you are Not Hot!

Eli Manning – New York Giants – Manning only has two touchdown passes this season to go along with two interceptions, has a 59% completion percentage and appears completely out of sync with his receivers. With a banged up receiving corp., Manning could remain Not Hot for the foreseeable future.

Matt Cassel – Kansas City Chiefs – Cassel sits above only Luke McCown in QB rankings so far this season. He is averaging 126 yards per game passing, has just one touchdown and four interceptions – BRUTAL!

RBs

Chris Johnson – Tennessee Titans – Chris Johnson is 36th in rushing so far this season – definitely Not Hot! CJ2 has a grand total of 77 rushing yards and zero touchdowns in two games making him the Early Fantasy Bust of the Year.

Frank Gore – San Francisco 49ers – Gore is averaging just 53 yards rushing so far this season and has found the end zone just one time. I am not sure what is going on with Gore but I do know that he is Not Hot.

Joseph Addai – Indianapolis Colts – Addai has been a true disappointment to his owners and doesn`t appear to be prime for a breakout anytime soon. Just 103 yards total in two games has Addai on the Not Hot list.

Honourable Mention: DeAngelo Williams – Carolina Panthers, Pierre Thomas – New Orleans Saints

WRs

Plaxico Burress – New York Jets – Burress hasn`t made much of an impact at all this season. He only has four catches so far and 72 yards.

Vernon Davis – San Francisco 49ers – Vernon has been a bust so far when he should be thriving. The 49ers receiving corp. in banged up and Davis only has seven grabs for 65 yards and zero touchdowns in 2 games – Not Hot!

Mike Williams – Tampa Bay Buccaneers – Paging Mike Williams – 5 catches for 46 yards and a score has Mr. Williams squarely on the Not Hot list!

If you are in need of a HOT fantasy football player these Top Hot players for the week should help you out if they’re in your lineup. They may also be free agents on your waiver wire.

If you need to dump a lame duck on your team, these NOTS should be them. Throw em in the trash if you can afford to not have them on your bench. Fantasy Football always favors the prepared mind.

The more research you do, and the more HOT players you have to choose from on your team, the better your odds are of winning your fantasy football league outright this year.

After all of the weekly games are finished be sure to check our waiver wire column, studs and duds, a who’s hot, and who’s not report plus more in our fantasy football guide.
