Week 16 DFS Fantasy Football Tight End Rankings – Fan Duel
Fantasy Championship is upon us – time to start obsessing about the lineups we will be trotting out in the culminating week of another scintillating Fantasy season. As always the Tight End position can make or break you – to have a reliable TE is a true luxury!
So which Tight Ends can we trust to take us to the Fantasy Championship this week? Let’s take a look at the top 5 Tight End plays for Week 16 of the NFL season.
1. Rob Gronkowski, Patriots
A meeting with the Jets this week may not be exactly what the doctor ordered but for the Patriots to win on the road Gronkowski is going to have to be a big part of the equation – period. The Jets have been very good against Tight Ends all season long but Gronk caught 11 balls for 108 yards in the first meeting of the teams this year. With so many of Brady’s weapons hurt, Gronk WILL BE the first, second and maybe third option in the passing game. I am expecting 6 catches for around 80 yards and a TD this week for the best Tight End in the game.
2. Jordan Reed, Redskins
Reed has been scorching – a matchup with a bad Philadelphia defense will do nothing to slow him down! He has 3 TDs in the last two games for a Washington passing offense that looks very good heading into this game. As mentioned in prior weeks, when healthy Reed is one of the most gifted Tight Ends in the game – he has proven it lately. Reed should be good for 6 catches for 80 yards and a TD with upside this week – he could easily score a couple of times against a pretty bad Philadelphia secondary.
3. Julius Thomas, Jaguars
I am all-in on the Jacksonville passing game against a historically bad New Orleans defense this week. Jacksonville should score a ton this week and Blake Bortles should have his way with the Saints secondary. Enter Julius Thomas who has become a huge part of the Jacksonville passing game. He failed to score last week, snapping a four game scoring streak but I like him to start a new streak this week. Bortles looks Thomas’s way in the Red Zone and the Jags will get their chances inside the 20 this week. 6 catches for 70 or so yards and a TD is what I see this week for Thomas.
4. Greg Olsen, Panthers
Olsen at #4? Ya – he’s tailed off just a tad but should be able to do some damage this week against a bad Falcons team that has mailed it in. He only gained 52 yards in the meeting between these teams in Week 14 but I like Olsen to be a much bigger part of the offense this week. 5-7 catches for 60-80 yards and a TD for a super-reliable Olsen is what I am expecting this week.
5. Delanie Walker, Titans
Walker continues his breakout season this week but will have Zach Mettenberger throwing him the ball instead of Marcus Mariota. Scared? Don’t be – Walker is the top pass catcher in the Titans offense and will definitely get his chances against the Texans this week. He scored twice last week on 64 yards receiving against a Patriots team that has been very tough on Tight Ends all season long. He now has 6 TDs this year and has four 90+ yard receiving on the year. He should come close to those numbers this week. 6 catches for 80 yards and a TD seems about right against the Texans at home.
