Stacked Card Provides Plenty Of Reason To Check Out UFC On Fuel TV 9 This Saturday
The UFC on Fuel TV 9 is coming up this online sports betting weekend, and while the fight card has been analyzed to shreds over the past couple of weeks, the truth is that this will be an event worth watching for many reasons. The last time that the UFC visited Sweden it was an absolutely incredible atmosphere as fans from across Europe made the trip to Stockholm. The same will be true about this month’s event as the UFC constructed an even deeper card than the one that MMA fans got to see the last time around, headlined of course by former Strikeforce Light Heavyweight champion Gegard Mousasi making his highly anticipated UFC debut in the main even against the hometown favorite Alexander Gustafsson.
One of the rising stars in the UFC light heavyweight division, Gustafsson needs to prove that he is finally ready for the biggest stage and will have the chance to do so in front of friends and family in his native country. With six-straight sports betting wins under his belt including two submissions and two knockouts, Gustafsson has certainly made an impact with back-to-back wins over Thiago Silva and Mauricio Rua. Mousasi’s UFC debut has received less attention than many MMA fans feel it should, but it is still a very big deal. This will be the toughest test for Gustafsson so far, and if he wins this fight he could find himself on the short list of possible contenders to challenge UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jon “Bones” Jones.
In addition to what is on the line in the main event, there are some other notable features of this card that should spark some online betting interest. Randy Couture will not be in the Octagon at the upcoming UFC on Fuel TV event, but he could very well be on hand to watch his son Ryan battle Ross Pearson in a lightweight bout prior to the main event of the night. Ryan is nowhere near the talent that his father was, but that doesn’t take away from the fact that this is the son of Randy Couture. Some people think that the bantamweight fight between Mike Easton and Brad Pickett that precedes this bout could have Fight of the Night potential, but so could the bout between Couture and Pearson.
Another bout with Fight of the Night potential will seed Diego Brandao and Pablo Garza against one another in a featherweight bout. While Brandao and Garza might not be among the bigger online sportsbook names in the sport, they are two quality fighters that can keep fans on their feet with their aggressive styles. This is the type of fight that flies under the radar before the event but is then talked about for months afterwards, and one more reason to check out the event.
