San Antonio Spurs vs. Miami Heat Preview
It’s for all the marbles tonight in this Game 7 in Miami and no team in the series has won 2 straight. The Heat had a big comeback to force OT in Game 6 and now NBA lines has them as 6-point home favorites with a total of 188.
In Game 6 the Heat beat the Spurs 103-100.
On the season the Spurs are 53-47-2 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 47-53-2 and the Heat are 57-47 ATS and they have an Over/Under record of 53-48-3.
This season the Heat are 46-7 at home and the Spurs are 30-21 on the road.
In the history of the NBA only 4 road teams have won Game 7’s in the finals and it has not happened since the 1978 season.
LeBron James had a triple-double in Game 6 and in his career in Game 7’s he is averaging 33.8 ppg. Boris Diaw played pretty good D on James in Game 6 and must do so again tonight.
The Heat turned the table on the Spurs in Game 6 hitting on 11 of 19 3-pointers while the Spurs were only 5/18 behind the arc. Danny Green has been great in the series shooting the long ball, but in Game 6 he was made only 1 of 5. Miami has to play good perimeter D like they did in Game 6 and now allow San Antonio to get open looks from deep.
Tony Parker was only 6/23 from the floor in Game 6 and if he shoots poorly like that again Miami will win.
Kawhi Leonard had a big Game 6 for the Spurs with 22 points and 11 boards and if Parker and Ginobili struggle again he will have to have another big game. Ginobili was the Game 5 hero, but in Game 6 he only scored 9 points on 2/5 shooting.
The Heat did win Game 6, but they allowed the Spurs to score 60 points in the paint and in this game they can’t let San Antonio get a ton of easy points in the lane.
The Spurs have never lost a NBA finals’ series.
In some betting trends for this finals’ match up the Spurs are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games overall, 5-0 ATS in their last 5 games following a S.U. loss, and they have an Over record of 4-0 in their last 4 games.
The Heat are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games following a ATS loss, 0-8 ATS in their last 8 games following a S.U. win, and they have an Over record of 4-0 in their last 4 games.
Jason’s Pick: This game will be similar to Game 6 and while it may not go OT the Heat will win, but the Spurs will give them a great game and keep it close covering the 6-point spread.
