The battle of Pennsylvania gets another round as these cross state rivals meet up for the final time this regular season. Pittsburgh still covets home ice advantage for the playoffs while Philly remains in the middle of a 3 team race for the final 2 spots.
The Flyers season will come right down to the wire this year, with Detroit and Boston playing hard for the 7-8 spots in the east. Pittsburgh makes for a very tough opponent, but the visitors are no slouches, coming in having won 7 of their last 10. The key for Philly to stay in this game is stamina, they’ve played some gruelling, and long, games this week against some of the leagues best. It’s also interesting to see that Ray Emery may get a start here as Mason may need a rest after the Saturday clash with Ottawa.
At this point, the Pens are one of my favourite teams to take the east this post season. No team has played better hockey since Christmas, and Crosby simply keeps making the plays and putting himself back into MVP conversations around the league. The Pens have won 5 in a row, 9 of their last 10 and 8 of their last 10 at CONSOL. The scary part is the recent concussion to Fluery, even though backup Murray recorded a shutout Saturday, his performances will likely get more realistic.
Free Philadelphia Flyers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins NHL Hockey Prediction
This game may be a bit of a letdown Sunday, and with MLB opening day, not too many may be tuning in. Both teams are coming in tired and batters from a busy week. The Flyers will either roll out Mason on back to back days, or opt to go with Stolarz (no NHL experience) or Emery (no recent NHL experience). Any one of those three provide the Pens with what should be a better night. Pitt is in almost the same boat though. With Fluery out and Mason playing Saturday, they most likely roll with Zatkof Sunday afternoon. With both offences having played such huge roll in their teams recent successes, I do not envy any one of those 5 goaltenders.
3* Free NHL Betting Pick Total o5
No matter which combination of goalies starts tomorrow from the aforementioned group, I see tired legs making alot of errors and causing plenty of scoring opportunity from this talented group of players. Again this one could literally go either way, but goals shouldn’t be hard to come by.
NHL Free Score Prediction: Philadelphia 5-3
