There are 10 games on the NBA schedule for this Wednesday and after breaking down all the matchups I have narrowed my selections down to two contests. These two picks are so solid I decided to pair them for this week’s ‘NBA Wednesday Parlay’. The following is a brief look at both games based on lines by BetOnline.
Game 1- Philadelphia 76ers vs. New York Knicks
Pointspread: New York -7.5
Total Line: 203.5
Philadelphia’s current slide reached three games with this past Monday’s 107-99 loss to Washington as a 10-point road underdog. It has now lost seven of its last eight games straight-up with a 2-6 record against the spread. There is absolutely no consistency with this team other than the fact that it cannot play defense. The 76ers are ranked dead last in the NBA in points allowed; giving-up an average of 109.9 points a game.
The Knicks have not been all that much better with an overall record of 15-26 SU and they are mired in a four-game losing streak after getting hammered 103-80 by Brooklyn as 1.5-point home underdogs this past Monday. New York has now failed to cover in its last five games to fall to 16-25 ATS on the year. It is a costly 5-16 ATS at home this season as opposed to Philadelphia’s 10-11 ATS record on the road. Both of these teams are really bad and while the Knicks will probably find a way to grind out a SU win at home, the play is on Philadelphia to cover with the 7.5 points.
Game 2- Indiana Pacers vs. Phoenix Suns
Pointspread: Indiana -5
Total Line: 196.5
At the opposite end of the spectrum in the Eastern Conference you have the red-hot Indiana Pacers with a five-game SU winning streak and an 8-2 SU mark in their last 10 games. They are coming off an impressive 102-94 victory over Golden State on Monday night as two-point road underdogs. Indiana has covered in all five games of this current streak and the total has gone OVER in three of the five outings. It has averaged 106.8 points during this run as opposed to a season average of just 98.2 points a game.
Phoenix has just two SU victories in its last six games and it is a costly 3-5 ATS in its last eight outings. The total has gone OVER in five of the Suns’ last six games. They are ranked ninth in the league in scoring with 103.9 points a game and over their last seven games this has increased to 107.4 points despite the disappointing record. Both of these teams are scoring points at will as of late and while you rarely think of the word shootout when it comes to Indiana and its normally stout defense, Wednesday night presents a perfect opportunity to seal-up the back end of this parlay with a play on the OVER in this matchup.
